FREMANTLE PUBS LOOKING FOR PATRONS!

Posted in Uncategorized by freoview on February 3, 2022

It is a worry that Fremantle was so quiet last evening. I don’t go out often, but when I do it is midweeks and there are always plenty of people around, but last evening was pretty dead.

There were four people in the Old Courthouse when I entered at 5pm and only my mate Bob and two young ladies entered in the next hour.

At the Sail and Anchor it was slightly busier, but just about 20 patrons at 6 pm. From there to Benny’s, which is usually quite packed on a Wednesday night, but there were fewer that twenty people in there as well.

Karl Bullers of the Old Courthouse and National Hotel told me that there had been hardly any people around this week.

So why are people not going out? Is it the fear of Omicron, the slight inconvenience of having to wear a facemask, or have they not been able to download the very cumbersome and frustrating ServiceWA app? Or might it be because holidays are over and kids are back to school?

Our local businesses need our support! Don’t let the fear of Covid stop you from enjoying your life. We can’t put our lives on hold until the coronavirus is gone. It might never be eradicated.

BRILLIANT ST PATS DOORSTEP DINNERS

Posted in city of fremantle, covid-19, food, hospitality, social services, st patricks, Uncategorized by freoview on April 18, 2020

Fremantle Ports has come on board as a sponsor for the St Patrick’s Doorstep Dinners food relief, with a $ 10,000 donation.

Doorstep Dinners is the idea of St Pats CEO Michael Piu and will deliver 200 meals a day for 45 days to the most vulnerable in the Freo community. Main sponsors are the Minderoo Foundation and McCusker Foundation.

Fremantle restaurants La Sosta, Benny’s and the National Hotel will cook the dinners at cost, which are delivered to the door by St Pats volunteers.

The initiative is not only support for the needy but also for some of the kitchen staff of the three restaurants, who are now back at work, and for the suppliers of the venues.

It is a heart-warming project that deserves all the support and praise it can get. Well done all!
