The annual Cottesloe Sculptures by the Sea opened on Friday and will be on for two weeks, so make sure to ride, walk, drive or train it up the coast on the long weekend.
This is a show by Australian and international artists that compliments the all Western Australian Sculpture@Bathers in Fremantle well.
We should consider ourselves lucky to have two outstanding beach art shows at the same time.
Balls are the new black in three-dimensional art it seems if the Sculptures on the Beach show in Cottesloe is anything to go by. There are little man sitting on balls, balls on legs, fitness balls dug into sand, a ball on a chain and round and rotund forms and round holes.
They were setting up the show that opens on Friday, so there is many more to come and it’s well worth a visit.
Of course our own Fremantle SCULPTURE@BATHERS show will open next week showcasing over 70 Western Australian artists and about one third of them from Freo. It will be all around our gorgeous inner city Bathers Beach and it will be a lot of fun with the Kelp Bar at Kidogo Arthouse opening on the weekends. It finishes on March 29 with the Seafood Festival, so don’t miss S@B in Freo! It’s all run by volunteers so support the local initiative.
