TURNBULL INVITED TO BEELIAR WETLANDS
The Rethink the Link community group has officially invited Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to visit the Beeliar Wetlands and see for himself what impact the Roe 8 and Perth Freight Link would have on the significant lakes.
Turnbull is due to visit Perth in the next weeks and the media believes that is to put pressure on WA Premier Colin Barnett to go ahead with the entire PFL and not just Roe 8.
The Sunday Times reports today that Matthias Gorman has allocated $ 30 million for the project and told the WA State Government that money is for all stages of the PFL.
I have not heard anything about the Supreme Court Challenge to the EPA approval by the Save Beeliar Wetlands group, so not sure what is going on there as it was going to be heard last Tuesday. If anyone has an update please let us know!

MAINROADS WANT THE FREMANTLE TUNNEL
The West Australian reports today that Mainroads Department has advised State Government that the best option to continue with the PERTH FREIGHT LINK would be to build The Fremantle Tunnel from the intersection of Stock and Winterfold roads in a straight line to the intersection of Stirling Highway and High Street.
Two 3.3 kilometre-long tunnels would be built at a cost of $ 1.3 billion and according to Mainroads would increase the quality of life for residents and house values and would reduce road fatalities.
It remains unresolved how the road would continue from there into Fremantle Port with the options of a duplication of Stirling Bridge or widening the bridge.
I believe it would be bad and unprofessional planning and a waste of money to invest in the tunnel and start building it before a solution has been found for the last and essential section of the road into the port.
