AL KUWAIT CREW ON BOARD SINCE DECEMBER
If it is true that the crew of the Al Kuwait have not been allowed off the live sheep ship since December, it is a worry.
I received this interesting comment to the blog from Ivana C S, and if this is correct how did the people on the Al Kuwait get Covid-19 when they have not disembarked since December, as Ivana C S claims?
My dad is a cook on this ship. He went to work there before Covid was reported to China. Since December he, and the rest of the crew were not allowed to disembark in any port. Even they don’t know how this happened! He is now in a hotel waiting for test results. I need to say this too, he was supposed to come back in March…because of worldwide lockdown he is still working. So…. no crew were walking the streets of Fremantle… this is a great shock to as all. Greetings from Croatia.

LIVE SHEEP EXPORT LICENSE CANCELLED
What will no doubt have a big impact on the exporting of sheep from Fremantle Port the Australian government has cancelled the export license of Australia’s biggest live trader Emanuel Exports.
The license was suspended just over a month ago, but this has now been extended to the license being cancelled after videos appeared showing the terrible mistreatment of sheep on some of the journeys to the Middle East.

SHEEP SHAME SHIP BACK IN BUSINESS
The Awassi Express is back at berth at North Quay in Fremantle Port and ready to be loaded with thousands of sheep again, after she made national headlines for the animal cruelty on board the ship, that was leaked by a whistleblower.
I believe that the photos and videos we are confronted with now and then are just the tip of the iceberg and that this happens far more often than the public is aware.
We also need to acknowledge that different cultures have different standards of animal care and if Australians don’t like the conditions the sheep and cattle face when being transported to the Middle East and elsewhere we need to stop the live trade from our country.
We have heard too often that conditions will improve and that animal cruelty will never happen again, until it happened again.

Stop Press: Latest news on Friday morning is that the ship will sail out empty from Fremantle but might take cattle on board in Broome, according to media reports.

LIVESTOCK PROTEST SPANS FREMANTLE BRIDGE
An estimated 850 animal lovers took over the full length of the Fremantle traffic bridge this morning to protest against livestock trade from Fremantle port.
The peaceful protest did not interrupt the usual busy Sunday traffic.
