Posted in city of fremantle, festival, heritage, historic, hospitality, Uncategorized by freoview on May 18, 2018

May 25 Scandal at Courthouse

As part of the Fremantle Heritage Festival the National Hotel is holding an evening of murder solving fun in the heritage setting of the historic Drill House Courtyard on May 25.

Scandal at the Courthouse includes a three course dinner and drinks, so it will be a fun night out.

See details on the poster above.

And a little historic detail. Did you know a former drunken publican of the National Hotel shot a Fremantle Councillor at the Townhall?

FREO SHOWS WHAT CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT

Posted in bid, christmas, city of fremantle, Uncategorized by freoview on November 30, 2017

Not many people who enjoyed themselves tonight at the Fremantle Long Table Dinner in historic High Street would understand the logistics of making the stunning event work.

To feed 800 people is a huge challenge at any given time, but doing it on the street, from different kitchens and with many volunteers, now that is amazing!

Karl Bullers of the National Hotel, the BID team, all the volunteers, and God knows who else was involved in organising this outstanding evening, all should receive the Fremantle Citizen of the Year award. You guys are truly amazing and deserve so much gratitude from the community!!

To do all this to support St Pats and the homeless and needy people is what Christmas should be all about and you all made it a reality. Thank you so much!!

Freo leading the way yet again!

BOUTIQUE ACCOMMODATION AT THE FREO NATIONAL

Posted in accommodation, city of fremantle, hospitality, tourism, Uncategorized by freoview on November 22, 2017

National

The historic Fremantle National Hotel will become a real hotel next year with the addition of twelve boutique hotel rooms.

Owner Karl Buller told me yesterday they will also develop a rooftop bar and wedding function centre, so these are very welcome additions to the Freo CBD.

Construction work is estimated to take six months, so it should all be up and running by mid next year. Stay tuned!

ANOTHER GREAT FREMANTLE SUNDAY

Posted in city of fremantle, entertainment, fremantle arts centre, music, Uncategorized by freoview on October 15, 2017

This Way North

It is going to be a great day in Fremantle, so why not start at the Growers Green Farmers Market this morning. It’s on from 8am to midday at Annie Street, Beaconsfield.

After that visit one of our many lovely local cafes and then from 2-4 pm relax in the courtyard of the Fremantle Arts Centre, where Victorian duo This Way North will entertain us with soulful vocals and alt-pop melodies, combined with solid groove based drumming.

They are sometimes likened to the Black Keys and Tame Impala.

Also performing at the FAC this afternoon is Belle Harvey. who will be singing alt-country and folk tales.

Oct 15. National Hotel

And if you need more after that, Jook Joint is performing at the National Hotel from 3.30-6.30 pm.

WHAT DOES ART MEAN TO FREMANTLE?

Posted in art, city of fremantle, culture, fremantle network, Uncategorized by freoview on August 18, 2017

The FREMANTLE NETWORK monthly event this Monday will focus on what art means for Fremantle, so come along if you are an artist, curator, gallery owner, or someone interested in culture and arts.

Art is at the heart of Freo’s identity. The next event will feature the operators of two of Fremantle’s iconic and highly successful independent arts businesses.

Tom Muller, Artistic Director and Artist at PS Art Space

PS Art Space is a project space for the experience of contemporary art which presents a curated program of exhibitions and events by Australian and international artists. It is also houses a number of local artists’ studios within a sensitively restored, heritage listed building in the heart of Fremantle’s historic West End precinct. PSAS has become one of Perth’s most exciting and experimental platform to experience contemporary culture.

Robby Lang, Owner and Operator of the Fibonacci Centre

The Fibonacci Centre aims to make a city into a beautiful resonating magnet by nurturing the Dreamers and Makers and providing an incubation chamber for creative ideas. The Fib has become a thriving community of artists and makers creating and working together. The atmosphere in this purpose built creative studio space is inclusive and welcoming, and has become a vibrant community hub, hosting events, exhibitions classes and a cafe.

It’s on  at 6pm Monday 21 August upstairs at the National Hotel.

Malicious rumours that my mate Robby Lang’s talk will be subtitled in English are just soooo wrong. ; >)

See you at the NAT on Monday. It should be interesting!
