CHRISTMAS HAS COME EARLY! Starting this weekend, the City of Fremantle will be gifting 2 hours of FREE parking until Boxing Day! So whether you’re heading into Freo to do your shopping or enjoying a leisurely lunch, you can now bring the car and not worry about the cost!

To redeem, you will have to use PayStay at all of our off-street car parks. Keep an eye out for Free Parking Santa throughout December for special treats for the kiddies & if you’re lucky, he will also pay for your parking if you don’t have the app.

LOOK OUT FOR FIRE ANTS IN FREMANTLE!

Posted in city of fremantle, fremantle ports, Uncategorized by freoview on November 30, 2019

Fire Ants!

Fremantle residents are asked to look out for Fire Ants. Three nests of them were recently discovered oin the port area and they are a real pest with a nasty sting, so be aware and double check when you see ants.

The Aboriginal flag is flying at half mast on the Fremantle Townhall to show respect for the Reverend Sealin Garlett who died recently.

FREO’S CHRISTMAS TREE

Christmas tree

It is not huge and it is not greatly impressive, but at least there is a Christmas tree in Fremantle’s High Street mall.

FREMANTLE HERALD CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

Herald

Congratulations to Fremantle Herald owner Andrew Smith and all the staff to the 30th birthday of our own iconic Freo rag.

The Chook is no doubt an institution in our port city and has done itself proud with many exclusives and even more controversial articles over the three decades.

It takes a lot of effort and commitment to publish a community newspaper, especially during the hard times when the advertising dollars dry up significantly, but Smith and his team just kept going.

I too have fond memories standing in for the Chook photographers when they went on holidays or were sick.

All of us in Fremantle need to realise that the Herald can only survive if it gets the advertising support it needs, and we also need to be aware what a great loss it would be for Freo if the Chook were no longer published.

Thanks Andrew, Steve and all the great people who make the Fremantle Herald what it is!

DELIGHTFUL FREO LONG TABLE

The FREO LONG TABLE is my favourite event in Fremantle because it is everything Fremantle is. It is fun, food, wine, entertainment and charity. It is an evening where the Fremantle community comes together to have fun to support those who need a helping hand.

Proceeds for the heart-warming event go to St Patrick’s, so thank you so much to all the volunteers, businesses, sponsors, chefs and cooks and volunteers, and performers, and, and, and. You all make Freo the very special caring place it is!

BEAUTIFUL CICERELLO’S CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

There is not a lot of good Christmas decoration in Fremantle so Cicerello’s in the Fishing Boat Harbour deserves credit for this great display.

The thousands of little lights moving in the breeze look stunning, so take your children for a stroll one evening from about 7.30pm.
