FREOVIEW – Fremantle's only daily

SHE’LL BE RIGHT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR FREMANTLE!

Posted in fremantle by freoview on June 4, 2012

The photos below show what happened at Bathers Beach yesterday, when the city was packed with visitors on the long weekend W.A. Day. People had made their own decisions and decided it was not good enough that the City of Fremantle keeps blocking the foot and bicycle path to the Round House, and opened the gates themselves.

It’s not something I condone, as it now invited people to enter a construction site with heavy equipment and unsafe road surfaces. But I do understand the immense frustration of those who do their daily walk and bike ride there, and the local businesses who want to capitalise on the additional visitors to Fremantle. Imagine having paid good money for hiring a Kidogo Art House gallery space and no one can get there. What a waste of money and effort that would be.

I am sure that with the right organisation and application, and a wee bit more effort and elbow grease, this problem could be solved within just a few hours. She’ll be right just is not good enough!

What a mess! You know they could at least have opened the pathway.

I only “whine” about council when they don’t do their job properly and am looking forward to the day where they do things 100% and I can stop complaining about them.

Roel I think you whine about Council too much, but in this case I think you‘re right. Bathers Beach has been turned into a carpark. Absolute disgrrace. Even bringing back Macca‘s would be an improvement.
