FREO BRIDGES FOOD TRUCKS OFF TO A GOOD START

Posted in food, fremantle by freoview on February 8, 2016

I was surprised that so many people turned up at the East Street jetty for the first Fremantle food trucks between the bridges today. It will be on every Monday from 5-9 pm till the end of March.

There were only three food trucks but it had a very good community atmosphere with people sitting at the Swan River watching the sunset behind the port. Some even had a quick cooling dip and jumped off the jetty.

If it gets busier a few more seats would be nice, but there is a small park on the other side of the road so that can be utilised as well.

Forgot all about the Maritime Museum concerts, Michael but will check it out this Sunday. J Shed looks very disappointing to me, so let’s see if it improves.

No it’s not free, just food trucks offering food for sale to everyone.

Thanks Roel. Had heard nothing about this until your post this morning.

Incidentally, we walked from Bathers Beach to the brilliant “Harbour Sundays” gig at the Maritime Museum on Sunday afternoon, and were pissed off that we were forced to make a long and not very obvious detour around the rather dead-looking fenced-off area outside J-Shed. The gig at the Maritime Museum was worth the effort though – very cool live music, channelling the surf vibe, reasonable drinks and a view to absolutely die for – and free! (and I’d guess 5 times the “crowd” at J Shed). We know where we’ll be next Sunday…

On the way back, we enjoyed watching the ‘joie de vivre” of the participants in the Perth Swing Dance Association having fun on the deck at Kidogo aka Kelp Bar.

    Ah, Freo Sunday afternoons… bliss!

I thought it was for homeless people as it said free food. Who is paying for it?
