The Fremantle Annual General Electors Meeting was over in under an hour this evening, so just enough time to capture the lovely sunset from the South Mole of Fremantle port.

GOLDEN CONTAINERS AT FREMANTLE PORT

golden containers

The Fremantle Council Planning Committee meeting finished early for me on Wednesday evening, so enough time to drive onto the South Mole of Fremantle Port and capture the golden light of the setting sun on the containers of the Maersk Yangtze which entered the port just before 7.30pm.

There were plenty of clouds in the sky and the prospect of rain and even thunder on Thursday.

I think I must be addicted to photography, because when I haven’t taken any photos for a day or two I have a real desire to go out and try to discover some, so after a busy day volunteering at the Roundhouse I decided to go out again and take some happy snaps of the beautiful sun set at the Fremantle Martime Museum in the port.

I doubt there is much intelligence left in me, if there ever was any in the first place. Why else would I stand in the freezing cold breeze, trying to recover from pneumonia, and take photos of the dramatic sunset over Fremantle? It’s called stupidity I believe. If only I could remember.

Anyway, gorgeous clouds and I scored big time with all those lovely young chicks from Amaroo retirement village waving at me from the bus.

WOW! STUNNING FREMANTLE SUNSET

What a truly amazing sunset that was this evening over the Indian Ocean at Fremantle.

It was so incredibly beautiful that it took my breath away. Nature is just so more awesome than any manmade stuff.

SO VERY LUCKY TO LIVE IN FREMANTLE

The ocean has always been the big leveller in my life. It is the place where everything comes in perspective and where one’s own relevance diminishes in the realisation of the enormity of the universe.

When the body gets invigorated by the cold storm that sprays water in one’s face and when one sees the mighty dramatic sky above the roaring waves, one realises that we are all so different, but so very much the same.

The oceans makes me more aware of our vulnerability and that we all want to be liked, loved and respected and that basically we want to wake up tomorrow and live in peaceful harmony with our fellow human beings and with nature.

Late yesterday afternoon when I took these photos on the South Mole I though how incredibly lucky I am to be living in beautiful Fremantle, a city with a strong, caring and compassionate community and that I live in this amazingly beautiful island country of Australia.

That was a stunning sky over Fremantle most of today, so I went out late afternoon to take some photos from Monument Hill and the South Mole.

The Under the Bridge Foodtrucks at the Fremantle East Street jetty on Mondays are very popular and a fantastic idea, that is now being emulated in Mosman Park, and from tomorrow on also on Thursdays at the John Tonkin Reserve in East Fremantle.

There were a lot of people young and old having a good time last night while a band was playing invigorating music.

If you haven’t experienced sitting at the Swan River, watching the sun set behind the port while having yummy food, go do it next Monday as summer is almost over!
