FREO ARTS CENTRE CAFE RE-OPENS

Posted in Uncategorized by freoview on June 26, 2024

Yes, it’s Moorditj, which means Deadly! The Fremantle Arts Centre cafe has finally re-opened, after it was forced to close down in August two years ago, when the City of Fremantle refused to sign a new lease with the long-term operators.

The new cafe owners are also running the Fremantle Leisure Centre kiosk, which is now also open, and ‘migrated’ all the way from Alice Springs. That’s what I can a real sea change.

The cosy enclosed courtyard is still without furniture and sparkies were still working inside the cafe, but it is open seven days a week and offers hot lunches, rolls, etc. Go have a look!

Because the story is about the opening of the cafe and I did a story about the artwork when it was installed some years ago. Roel

If you were well aware of it, why didn’t you acknowledge the artist?

Yes I am well aware of that. It’s also on the wall of the cafe’s courtyard. Roel

“Moorditj”, the neon sign, is actually an artwork by Amanda Bell.
