GYUTO MONKS FREO’S CRICKET MATCH

Posted in buddhism, cricket, fremantle, religion by freoview on October 9, 2016

The delightful Buddhist Gyuto Monks of Tibet played a cricket match for the Divinity Cup against the motley mob of Clancy’s Fish Pub on Sunday morning and it was a lot of fun.

There were even a few among the lot of them who did not chuck and could actually hit and catch the ball. ; >)

The official opening of the visit of the Gyuto Monks is this Monday October 10 at 7 pm at the Fremantle Townhall with a welcome to country by Noongar elder Richard Walley. All are welcome to this free event, so come along!

HAVE A FREO SUNDAY OF FREE EVENTS!

Posted in art, city of fremantle, culture, music by freoview on October 7, 2016

Let’s hope the rain will stay away as there are a lot of things on in Fremantle on Sunday and all of them are free!

It starts at 10 am with the Divinity Cup cricket match at Princess May Park between the Gyuto Monks of Tibet and the Clancy’s Benders (chuckers?). (I call them benders, but they call themselves All Stars).

From 1o am to 4 pm Changing Your Tune is on at the Esplanade Youth Plaza as part of Mental Health Week, with live bands, burlesque, and other entertainment.

At 1 pm at Pioneer Park there is the Eye Gazing event where you can forever look deep into the eyes of total strangers, which must be quite confronting in the beginning.

And from 2-4 pm that very handsome and likeable Mo Wilson and The Drivers will perform in the courtyard of the Fremantle Arts Centre.

FREO COMMUNITY RAISES $ 30,000 FOR NEPAL!

Posted in earthquake, fremantle, nepal by freoview on June 20, 2015

Well done to all the hardworking and passionately committed people in the Fremantle community who organised the RESTORING NEPAL CONCERT and other events. I was just told that close to $ 30,000 was raised for the earthquake victims in Nepal.

So a very, very big THANK YOU! to the musicians from Empire Blues, Mutima Band and the Nervous investors, and to those who donated items for the raffle, and the Fremantle Sailing Club for supplying the venue.

It gives one a real warm and fuzzy feeling to see that people do care, even about countries and people they have never met. Well done all and thank you so much!

It was a splendid evening and the organisors have to be thanked for their compassion and the hard work they did. Well done all who donated time and auction items. The Fremantle community showed yet again that we care. Well done all!!!!!!

DONATE AND HELP RESTORE NEPAL

Posted in earthquake, fremantle, nepal by freoview on May 10, 2015

Nepal aid

At the Fremantle fundraising concert for the earthquake affected people in Nepal we will also do a silent auction, so hopefully the Fremantle business and art community will support that with generous donations. Hotel stays, dinner vouchers, artworks, and things that might raise significant money is what we are looking for. We already have a wonderful five days stay at the Blue Buddha villa in Bali that alone is worth attending the concert for at the Fremantle Sailing Club on June 13.

Of course we are also very happy to just receive donations from the corporate sector, maritime industry, City of Fremantle, Fremantle Ports, the tourism  and development industry, etc.
