My brand new and delightful friend Sian made me aware this morning that the Shimmer artwork by Freo artist Susan Flavell had been installed outside the Esplanade Hotel, so here a photo.
The work was first shown at the 2015 Sculpture @Bathers show and was sold to a mining millionaire who sent it to Queensland where two bronze casts were made of the orginal work.
Now one of these bronzes is traveling around the Perth metro area to promote the S&B 2017 show which starts next Friday at Bathers Beach.
Hamilton Hill artist SUSAN FLAVELL is showing her latest work at the Fremantle Arts Centre in her exhibition The Dog’s Artist.
Sue has been a professional artist for around 30 years and has exhibited extensively. Her work is in major collections around Australia.
She will take part again in next year’s Sculpture@Bathers show at Bathers Beach in February/March 2017.
Also on show at the FAC is a quite endearing first Australian solo show by Balinese artist Wayan Updana about his community.
While adults and children will like these two shows I would not take them into the main gallery where there is some ugly and disturbing freak horror art by Kiana Jones. She is very popular on You Tube the FAC states, but I dislike her work very much.
There is movement at the station! The big beast sculpture by artist Susan Flavell is the first artwork to arrive at Kidogo Arthouse today for the big SCULPTURE@BATHERS beach exhibition that will show the amazing talent of some 70 Western Australian artists from March 14-29.
Installation of the works starts early next week so wander over and meet some artists and come to the big opening on Friday.
