ST PAT’S LONGER SUPPORT FOR WOMEN

Posted in city of fremantle, st patricks, Uncategorized, women by freoview on August 11, 2017

A very important message from the St Patrick’s Community Support Centre:

It’s with a mix of optimism and gratitude that we announce that St. Pat’s Sisters’ Place will be transitioning from a short-term accommodation option to a medium-term service for women.

This decision was made in response to the growing need for medium term accommodation for women in the Fremantle area.

In the new service, women will be able to stay in the accommodation for up to 12 months, working with case workers to get their lives back on track.

Emergency, short-term accommodation will be continued to be offered by St. Pat’s Street To Home and Emergency Relief programs.

As Sisters’ Place transitions into its new role, we’d like to thank all the volunteers who have so faithfullly served the community over the last seven years. From all of us here at St. Pat’s, thank you.

CANCELLED SOUTHBOUND SUPPORTING FIRE EMERGENCY

Posted in fremantle, western australia by freoview on January 8, 2016

It is fantastic to see that ticket holders, events organisers Sunset Events, and food stall operators are trying to support the bushfire victims down south after the cancellation of SOUTHBOUND. This message below came through on Facebook and well done to everyone to show your support and empathy and realise that the cancellation of a music festival is nothing compared to the loss of homes, livestock, etc!

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the support shown over the last 11 hours since our announcement that Southbound 2016 has had to be cancelled due to high fire risk within the area. We’ve had a lot of feedback regarding patrons wanting to donate both part or their entire ticket refund to those affected by the fire. We are currently working to set up a system where this can be facilitated. We have excess food on site which we will be offering to those who are both working to fight the fires and affected and currently working with the relevant parties to make this happen. We’ll keep you updated as we work on both of these initiatives. We are gutted but trying to turn our disappointment in not being able to deliver Southbound to you into a positive thing for those affected by the fires.”

There are too many artists who generously donated their works to mention them all, but check out the poster above. Names like Salvadore Dali, Robert Juniper and Elizabeth Durack should get the attention of serious art collectors, so don’t miss out to support the homeless and get yourself a great artwork or two.

Funds raised will be going to the Freo Street Doctor, St Pat’s My Sister’s Place and the Fremantle Multicultural Centre.
