GOLDEN MORNING AT FREO RAILWAY STATION

I had an early 6.30am catch up coffee with former Fremantle Councillor Dave Coggin at Il Cibo this morning. He is a man I greatly respect and really like and he is now working at the WA Premier’s Department.

When we walked out of the cafe Dave pointed at the railway station, saying “Look at that light!” I wandered over of course to take this stunning photo of it.

FREMANTLE PORT STUNNING SUNRISE

sunrise port

Summer is back! We are expecting 31 degrees today in Fremantle, so get out the shorts, mini skirts and bathers!

The sunrise over the Maritime Museum was stunning and the warm colours a prediction of what the day will be like.

It was very busy at B Shed with many people sailing out to Rottnest Island.

I believe it is going to be the hottest May in 58 years or so, according to the weather news on TV. Enjoy it!

LUCKY TO LIVE IN FREMANTLE

I love early mornings in Fremantle because it always makes me realise how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place.

To head out onto the South Mole and see the always great Indian Ocean and the stunning sunrises is something very special for me.

….and I love every other hour of the day living in good old Freo as well!

Here two photos I took just before 7am this morning.

port sunrise

There is something special about being in Fremantle Port early and see the sun rise behind the Maritime Museum.

It was a little bit misty this morning, when a single dolphin was hunting for food and the OOCL Kuala Lumpur, flanked by two tugboats, arrived in the already crowded port.

Out on the South Mole two grumpy-looking Nankeen Herons were wondering what the bearded guy was photographing.

When that was all done I continued with the nice tradition of meeting with my mate Henty at the Moore&Moore cafe, where we are always the first patrons on Saturdays.

Some time later this morning I’ll head back to the West End for another espresso at Chalkys or Studio 37, or the Attic, Hush, or any other of the delightful cafes.

I feel so at home and blessed in our little port city, and I always think how much there is to love about this place, that gets unwarranted negativity too often.

Fremantle ain’t paradise, but we could do a lot worse!

MAGIC FREMANTLE PORT SUNRISE

Posted in city of fremantle, fremantle ports, photography, Uncategorized by freoview on September 10, 2017

port sunrise

Beautiful dark clouds and very strong directional early sun rays made for a pretty magic early morning in Fremantle Port today.

There is rain forecast, so this looks like a good indication of it coming in.

I heard that yesterday humpback whales were frolicking inside the port, but I missed them.

Before hopping on the train this morning I had some time to spare, so I took these sunrise photos at Fremantle Fleet Street and Victoria Quay.

WONDERFUL FREO WINTER DAY

Leeuwin sunrise

What a stunning clear and crisp winter morning it is in Fremantle today.

I took this photo of the SS Leeuwin in Fremantle Port just before 7 am and it was pretty cold, but a warm coffee upstairs at the Attic made it all better.

Off to take photos at the WINTERWORLD on the Esplanade later on and then German winter dinner at Gasthof Loopy. Sauerkraut, pork sausages and braised pork belly.

Mulled wine would be nice too. ; >)

STUNNING FREMANTLE PORT SUNRISE

sunrise port

The sunrises and sunsets are often spectacular this time of the year and that was the case again early this invigoratingly chilly morning at Fremantle Port.

A nice hot coffee at the Moore&Moore cafe with my good mate Henty warmed me up again.

Sad to hear the lovely Sarah will also be leaving one of my favourite cafes, as are Anna, Hannah and Ashlie, so a lot of personnel changes there. Not happy! ; >)

EARLY BIRDS CATCH FREMANTLE BEAUTY

What a splendid start to the weekend this morning’s sunrise in Fremantle was.

The first Rottnest Express ferry was just entering the port when the sun poked her head above the horizon and behind the Maritime Museum.

It is well worth the effort for anyone interested in getting beautiful photos to get up before sunrise as it is often more stunning than sunsets.

The start of autumn has been brilliant with crispy nights and mornings and cosy warm days full of sunshine and blue sky.
