PEOPLE MAKE LIFE GOOD

Posted in fremantle, markets, people, perth by freoview on November 1, 2015

I love people and because of them it is easy to love life, as most people are good and interesting, no matter what their background, culture or religion is.

I love being a photographer as it enables me to observe and capture people at their best, and I love helping organise markets because it involves a lot of people.

Yesterday I took these photos at the Swan River Community Markets at the Belltower in Perth of the gorgeous fairies of Ladybird Entertainment and kids enjoying the animals at Farmer Damian’s touch farm. You can also find them at the Sunday’s Growers Green market in Fremantle. Live is good!

DOUBLE STANDARDS AT FREO WINTER FESTIVAL

Posted in city of fremantle, festival by freoview on July 10, 2015

I am surprised to read in the Fremantle Herald today that the food stall holders at the WINTER GARDEN Festival on the Esplanade complain that they barely earn the money to pay the rent.

As far as I understand it the food stalls idea with local traders, instead of market stall operators, came from BID and was meant to support local businesses. The Winter Garden operators receive five years rent-free use of the Esplanade from the City of Fremantle, so why do small local businesses have to pay rent to participate and enhance the festival?

KAZOOM IS FREO’S PARMI KING SAYS WA TODAY

Posted in food, fremantle, media by freoview on May 4, 2015

Nice for a change to read a good food review for two Fremantle institutions. Reporter Shaun Turner of WA Today gave himself the difficult assignment of testing Parmigiana all over Perth and it was good news for Freo.

Fremantle CHEF NIMROD KAZOOM, who is well known for his excellent food stalls at markets, got 5 out of 5 for his Chicken Parmigiani at his pop up restaurant at the Laneway Festival and the South Beach Hotel got a 4.5/5. However the Ocean Beach Hotel  in Cottesloe received just a 1/5 for their parmi, so not all is that upmarket in the Western burbs.

Nimrod also caters for weddings, functions, etc. and does far more exotic and creative dishes than just parmi, so Google him and check out his website: http://nimrodkazoom.com if you are looking for top quality catering.

PRINCESS MAY BEST LIVE MARKET MUSIC AROUND

Posted in fremantle, princess may markets by freoview on February 26, 2015

It’s little wonder that the Fremantle PRINCESS MAY MARKETS have some of the best live music of all markets around. It’s after all organised by Tom Fisher who just got back from playing with Tim Minchin on the steps of the Sydney Opera House.

Tomorrow night the African soul sounds of Zakhutha will permeate the air of the lovely park next to Clancy’s so come along and start your long weekend at the PMM!

There will be international food aplenty and entertaining stuff for the kids to do as well and there will be market stalls to have a bit of a browse.

There is heaps of street parking so no worries about that. Come and support the local small businesses who make community events like markets work. Open from 5-9 pm every Friday!

Here some photos of the utterly relaxing Fremantle PRINCESS MAY MARKETS, with which I am involved. It is on every Friday from 5-9 om in the cosy park next to Clancys.

It is a really family market with lots to do for children, outstanding live music on the Little Creatures stage, fantastic international food stalls and a great variety of market stalls to browse through.

And of course there is a huge selection of craft beers and good wines to sample at Clancy’s for the grown ups while the kids have a play with Fairy Sandie, or visit the animal touch farm or take graffiti art lessons from Lady Bananas.

Markets support small businesses and are all about community and the Princess May is very Freo!

FREO PRINCESS MAY MARKETS PHOTOS

I can finally offer you photos of the first Fremantle PRINCESS MAY MARKETS that is held near Clancys’every Friday from 5-9 until the end of April. It was a labour of love as my Photoshop is still not working properly so it took me five times longer to shift through 180 photos. Clancy’s does a fish dish 4 ways so I thought I’ll present you my photos two ways, as a mosaic and as a slide show.

Check out all the lovely faces of stall holders, the kids having fun and Melbourne roots guru Benny Walker entertaining the crowd with great music.

Fremantle is a very special and unique place and it always shows at events such as markets. I hope to see thousands of you next Friday!

FANTASTIC START TO FREO PRINCESS MAY MARKETS

Posted in fremantle, markets by freoview on January 17, 2015

The start of the new Fremantle PRINCESS MAY MARKETS near Clancy’s was a fantastic success with hundreds of people coming to support the new event on Friday evening. The ambience was relaxing and the children had heaps of fun with Fairy Sandie, hoola hoops, bubbles, face painting, etc.

The live music was outstanding and the customers and stall holders were very happy. It will get even better over the next weeks with more stalls and great music.

Unfortunately my Photoshop packed up this morning so I can’t show you any of the photos I took on the night. The old Mac will be at computer doctor BENTECH in Wray Avenue on Monday morning, so now hoping it can be fixed fast and relatively cheap because I am extremely broke and can’t really afford it. ; >(

BAKE IN THE KITCHEN, NOT ON THE BEACH!

Posted in fremantle, sun by freoview on December 6, 2014

refusing to bake

The Refusing to Bake – Sale in front of Kidogo Arthouse on Fremantle Bathers Beach is a Christmas arts market that is designed to generate opportunities for local artists and designers to present and sell their work, whilst raising awareness for sun safe behaviour.

Stall holders will be setting up and preparing their stalls for fun and safety in the sun! Come and join in on Sunday 7th December from 10am – 4pm.

Over 20 stalls will range with a variety of goods from ceramic jewellery, to lanterns and sun safe beachwear.

Their will be face painting for the kids, food and drinks vendors and local creative acts will be performing through out the day around the theme ‘fun and safety in the sun’.

Amongst those will be the upcoming project group ‘Busker get’s a gig’, dance performances and the head lining Fremantle based drummers group Wasamba.

Sounds like a lot of fun to do before heading of to George Street for the festival there.
