RAINBOW FLAMINGO BOOK LAUNCH AT PAPERBIRD

Rainbow

It’s going to be a very RAINBOW Saturday in Fremantle this weekend, with the launch of the children’s book Flame the Rainbow Flamingo at the Paperbird bookshop in Henry Street.

The book was written by Denise Heydon and illustrated by Jane Gates.

It’s on at 10.00am on the 9th September.

After that wander over to Pioneer Park for the Rainbow Concert in support of marriage equality, that starts at 1pm.

Plenty of time in between to have coffee and breakfast at one of Freo’s lovely West End cafes!

YES! RAINBOW FLAG AT FREO TOWNHALL

There is a big pro marriage equality rally under the Fremantle Rainbow sculpture on Friday at 5 pm, and Fremantle Council is flying the rainbow flag high as well.

Love is not sexist or gender bias. People who love each other should be able to marry, and it does not matter if they are same sex couples.

Voting YES matters a lot to very many people who want to commit themselves to their partner.

Good Saturday morning Freo!

A lot of very heavy showers kept me awake overnight, but I do have an early start on Saturdays anyway for 7am coffee with my good friend Henty.

I took these photos just after 8 am in Fremantle port and the High Street mall.

BOWING TO FREMANTLE

A couple of photos I took this morning just east of Fremantle’s Cantonment Hill.

It was nice to have a tiny bit of sunshine and blue sky.

FREO RAINBOW ART VANDALISED AGAIN

rainbow-1 rainbow-2

I did not need the Trump election to make me realise there are a lot of idiots on our planet, but my mood soured even more this afternoon when I noticed some morons have vandalised the Fremantle Rainbow artwork by spraying graffiti on the second and third containers at the northern end.

No mate you are not clever, you are not an artist, you are a disrespectful fool! I hope the cops will catch you and put you in the slammer because all you are is a stupid little scum criminal our society does not want.

RAINBOW OVER MARITIME MUSEUM

On my way to the Roundhouse this morning I noticed the very black clouds moving in over Fremantle and the rainbow appearing, so had to stop at Victoria Quay for a quick snap.

NATURE’S TRUE ART OVER FREMANTLE

Posted in art, fremantle, photography, weather, western australia by freoview on May 6, 2016

Nature is true art, and the great thing about it is that it is free for all and not pretentious. Nature does not need conceptual thought processes and ego driven artist’s statements, but just blasts in all it’s glory any time of the day or night.

I shot these photos at the Fremantle South Mole this morning around 7.30.

COLD, WET AND WILD FREMANTLE

rain 1

Is it just my perception, or is this one of the wettest winters we have had in Fremantle for many years? I can’t recall day after day of rain, and it has been very heavy at times as well. It rained all night from early yesterday evening, the sky is black at times and rainbows pop up like popcorn. If this goes on I will have to move to the Kimberley because I don’t like the wet and cold at all.

Here a photo I took at the South Mole this morning. bbbrrrrrrr

WHY WASTE ALL THAT RAIN WATER?

Posted in fremantle by freoview on June 20, 2014

It has been unusually wet in Fremantle for many days now, and there is more to come this weekend. It was pretty miserable at the Round House for long periods, and the heavy showers meant that we sometimes could not even see the Town Hall, but beautiful rainbows made up for it and over 200 visitors battled the elements to come and look at our state’s oldest public building.

The sad part about all that rain is that most of it is flowing straight into the Indian Ocean. I do not understand why it is not a requirement by law to have rainwater tanks at new houses and why we don’t have rainwater tanks near our parks and sport fields, so that the rainwater can be used during the dry season and take some of the strain of our embattled water supply. Rainwater tanks on the roofs of multi-storey buildings could not only be used for domestic use but also for the sprinkler systems.
