FIRE AT FREMANTLE PORT

A large fire is happening right now on Rous Head at Fremantle port where 60 fire fighters are battling a blaze at Northport Marine Services. First reports said it was on a boat but it appears to be bigger than that with smoke coming out of a large building as we could observe from the North Mole.

Thirteen fore appliances from Fremantle, Murdoch, Success, Hope Valley, Joondalup, Canning Vale, Gosnells, Daglish and Jandakot are on the scene.

There is never a boring or inactive day for a photographer, because one can always go out for a walk and hunt for photos. I did that this morning and ended up taking a few graphic images of the photogenic Maritime Museum at the Fremantle harbour. Enjoy!

Regular readers of Freo’s View know that I love taking photos of reflections, so when I noticed this one while sitting on a bench in Mouat Street, I thought the horizontal blinds made for an intriguing photo. Fremantle is a very photogenic place, even for those of us who have lived here for a long time.

FREO POPULAR FOR WEDDINGS

I am not a wedding photographer, but an incurable romantic who has never been married, so when I noticed this lovely wedding with all the parasols at Fremantle Bathers Beach this morning, I decided to take some photos and surprise the happy couple by putting them on the blog.

Bathers Beach and the Round House are very popular for weddings, so I wonder if the City of Fremantle, BID, or Chamber of Commerce are offering special packages for it. If not, it’s worth considering what our City can offer wedding parties.

SNAPPING A SNAPPER AT SUNSET

It was a rather humid and sticky 33 degree day in Fremantle and while many overseas visitors to the Round House liked the heat, I needed a very cold shower after seven hours on my feet. While it was tempting to put my feet up, I noticed the gorgeous clouds and had to go out again to take a few snaps of the sunset and I caught another snapper doing the same at Bathers Beach.

Don’t be a fruitloop or basketcase and turnip at the Fremantle GROWERS GREEN MARKETS this Sunday morning between 8-12 at the South Fremantle Senior High School in Lefroy Street.

It’s a huge market with fruit and baskets and vegetable, great eggs, meat, fish, bread, pastries, yummy breakfast, or take some food home for lunch from one of the stalls. The coffee and atmosphere is great and there is so much to have a look at, or simply relax and watch the passing parade of Freo celebs and lesser knowns.

FREO’S STUNNING SUNSETS

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 29, 2014

I finally found a way uploading photos by using a different browser, so here some stunning sunset shots I took on Wednesday evening at Fremantle Bathers Beach.

Isolated showers are forecast for today but we are still going ahead with the Bathers Beach Sunset Food Markets, so come along to celebrate EARTH WEEK with a one hour drumming circle, eat great food, and maybe we’ll have another amazing sunset.

BIKE RACE ALONG ESPLANADE TODAY

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 26, 2014

Hey all you Freo bike and sport lovers, come and watch the Subaru National Road Series, the Tour de Perth  bike race along Fremantle Marine Parade this evening from 5 pm. It should be a very good spectacle that runs from Cliff Street to Norfolk Street and back along Marine Parade, so an alfresco seat at the Esplanade Hotel bar and cafe might just be the right spot for some early evening entertainment.

It is the first event in this year’s series that will be a 45km race for world class national and international riders.

ENJOYING FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 22, 2014

My horoscope is pretty on the ball today, as it tells me to explore what is going on in my local community, and to make the most of my neighbourhood connections, be that at a market, art show or music concert. I’ll be doing all three this eve at Fremantle‘s West End, so that is amazingly accurate.

A shame my stars did not tell me I’d win Lotto and fall in love today, but maybe it is not 100% accurate. ; >)

Here a long lens photo of the Fishing Boat Harbour.
