TWO JEWELS EQUAL GREAT FREMANTLE PORT

It is always an impressive sight to see large cruiseliners enter and depart Fremantle Port and float past the equally impressive Maritime Museum, so I took this photo of the Pacific Jewel leaving Freo just after 4pm on Friday afternoon.

Pacific jewel

Fremantle has been busy with cruise ship passengers the last two days. Yesterday the huge Celebrity Solstice arrived early in the morning and departed at 8pm. It has the capacity of carrying 2,852 passengers.

Today the Pacific Jewel arrived and is due to depart at 4 pm, which is good for Freo traders as there probably won’t be enough time for passengers to hop on a bus to the Pinnacles, so more of them will stay in town.

The impressive looking ship can carry 1,670 passengers and has eleven guest decks.

Welcome to Freo!

FREO CRUISE SHIPS A PHOTOGRAPHER’S DELIGHT

Posted in cruising, fremantle, photography by freoview on March 22, 2015

Fremantle’s Victoria Quay Passenger Terminal was a beehive of pensioners this morning with two cruise ships in town. The Costa Deliziosa and Pacific Jewel were anchored bow to sternĀ and a stream of passengers alighted.

Busses and taxis were queueing up to transport the mainly elderly holiday makers to their destinations around town or take them on sightseeing trips to the Swan Valley, Pinnacles and Perth.

I got away with what I believe is a really nice series of ‘street photo’ observations of the activity at Fremantle Ports.
