NOTRE DAME GRADUATIONS A RITE OF PASSAGE

Posted in city of fremantle, education, learning, notre dame university, Uncategorized, universities by freoview on December 12, 2018

The graduation days at Fremantle’s Notre Dame University are very special I believe.

These are the real rite-of-passage days, where students will make the next big step from studying to entering the work force and starting their chosen profession.

There is always a lot of nervous energy and anticipation at the graduation ceremonies, and of course a sense of relief that one has made it.

Congratulations to the hundreds of students who graduate today and tomorrow at NDA. Enjoy it and celebrate!

Unfortunately I could only spend fifteen minutes at the Open Day of Fremantle’s Notre Dame University as I was busy elsewhere, so here a few quick snaps I took.

The theme of the day was books.

Another reminder that this coming Sunday August 19 is OPEN DAY at one of WA’s most popular universities Notre Dame Australia in Fremantle.

This is an important day for parents and high school students to talk to NDA staff and lecturers and check out the great campus in the heart of the historic West End of Freo.

There will be entertainment and food stalls that help create an invigorating sense of activity while planning the future.

While the concerns about damage to the heritage High Street buildings in Fremantle continue, two heritage restorations just around the corner are happening almost unnoticed.

In Cliff Street Notre Dame University contractors are doing a splendid job on the ‘Wedding Wall’ with most of the arches now re-opened. It will look great when finished and will become a real heritage feature in the West End.

On the corner of Pakenham and Leake streets the PSAS building, with a grant from the Heritage Council, is also being restored.

FREO’S HISTORIC WEDDING WALL BEAUTIFICATION

It is very good to see that the lovely so-called Wedding Wall in Fremantle’s historic West End is being returned to its old glory by builders Fairweather.

Notre Dame University is paying for the renovations of the Cliff Street wall, which are supervised by the City of Fremantle.

Plans to turn the carpark behind the wall into a public open space, maybe a park or a playground, are still under consideration by the university, I was told this morning, so stay tuned.

The renovations of the heritage-listed wall mean that the bricked up arched doors and windows are re-opened and additional support for the wall is being put at the back. Well done NDA!
