GREAT CULTURE WEEKEND IN FREMANTLE

Posted in art, culture, fremantle by freoview on June 5, 2015

It’s a good weekend for art and culture in Fremantle. Two photography exhibitions open at the Fremantle Arts Centre this evening and at the Moores Building Contemporary Art Centre former J Shed artist Magali Dincher shows cute easy on the eye works with lots of Fremantle heritage buildings. The prints on perspex that create a 3D feel because of the shadows behind it are a bit more dynamic. It’s well worth a visit and enjoy some good coffee and a meal at the Moore&Moore cafe there at the same time.

On Sunday the great FREMANTLE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA will perform works by Schubert, Mendelssohn and Farrenc at the Fremantle Townhall from 3 pm. Don’t miss the fantastic 17-year-old violinist Emily Leung!

Tickets are from $ 20.00 only.  The FCO is sponsored by The Fremantle Herald, Perth Voice, Fremantle Ports and MP Melissa Parke.

BEAU EST MIEN AT BATHERS BEACH

Posted in art, fremantle by freoview on October 20, 2013

The BEAU EST MIEN printmaking studio and gallery opened officially at J Shed on Sunday afternoon and are now part of the Fremantle Bathers Beach Art Precinct. Many people turned up to have a look at the art, listen to the music, have a glass of bubbly, and network. Good luck Magali!

FREO SUNDAY OF MUSIC AND ART

Posted in fremantle by freoview on October 20, 2013

Hey Freo, the sun is coming out, so no excuses not to join in the fun this afternoon! From 3-6 pm today will be the official opening with live music of the Beau est mien art studio of Magali Dincher at J Shed on Bathers Beach. Come and say G’day to the French print making addition at the Bathers Beach Art Precinct.

Before you head to the beach, go to the Fremantle Arts Centre at 2pm for the Courtyard Music session, where acoustic folk musician Loren Kate will launch her new album Moving On.

The only negative will be that you will see me at both events. ; >)

PRINTMAKERS JOIN BATHERS BEACH ART PRECINCT

Posted in art, fremantle by freoview on October 11, 2013

Beau Est Mien is another welcome addition to the Fremantle Bathers Beach Art Precinct (formerly Arthur Head Art Hub). French born Magali Dincher has moved into the most Southern of the J Shed studios, next to Greg James‘ sculpture studio, and will do printmaking and hold printmaking workshops there.

Learn about etching, collagraphs, linocuts and screen printing techniques and eat your creative heart out while overlooking beautiful Bathers Beach in Freo’s historic West End.

You can contact Magali by email: info@beauestmien.com.au or call 0450 920 466. Check out the website: www.beauestmien.com.au

I hear the City of Fremantle wants to start an arts market at Arthur Head. it’s something I suggested two years ago, so let’s hope it will eventuate finally.

Good to see that the Freo festival organisors are including the West End of the City with a floating art happening at Bathers Beach, plus three performances inside the Round House during this year’s Fremantle Festival. Ticket prices are a bit expensive though and only a very small number of people will be able to get in.

SOUTH FREO MOMENTOS

Posted in fremantle by freoview on May 11, 2011

In my endeavour to support local artists I copy the press release they emailed me this morning:

Friends & fellow artists, Magali Dincher & Annie Rawle present an exhibition, “South Freo Mementos” which features Prints and Papercuts inspired by their social meetings at South Fremantle cafes and, of course, the beach.

Suitably the gallery they have chosen is Earlywork in South Fremantle. It opens on Friday 27th May and runs until Sunday 5th June.

They met when they both had workspaces at PS Art Studios in Fremantle. Despite their age difference, they formed an immediate bond over a shared visual taste, along with a love of a good long macchiato! When Magali vacated her studio, they continued to meet for coffee or lunch – usually in South Freo as it lies ½ way between their homes in Freo & Hamilton Hill.
They have been inspired by these ‘catch-ups’ to work on the exhibition.

Magali is fast making a name as a printmaker and has used etching, collograph and lino cut techniques to print a limited edition and ‘unique state’ prints for the exhibition.

Annie is best known for her works in stitch textiles and, more recently, laser cut jewellery design. For her, this exhibition is an exploration of a life long love of paper-cuts. Her jewellery will also be available at the exhibition.

On the final weekend of the exhibiton, they will be holding workshops in printmaking and papercutting on site at the gallery.
