FIRST LIGHT AT FREMANTLE PORT

A lone heron watches Fremantle Port when the first morning sun lights up North Quay. It was an interesting morning with five rabbits running around the South Mole where two other herons closely kept an eye on a fisherman to see if there was a feed in it for them.

If you really want to take better photos, getting up very early and staying out till after sunset is a must!

GONE FISHING

The herons at Fremantle harbour have decided that hunting for food is old-school and that it is better to go to the supermarket of anglers, who fish on the wharf at Victoria Quay. The water birds feel quite at ease with people and sit close by in the hope to get a feed.

WILDLIFE FEAST IN FREMANTLE PORT

Herrons

It was a bit of a wildlife feast in Fremantle harbour on yesterday’s glorious Sunday. While dolphins excited the tourists several herons were busy trying to steal fish from the many anglers.

There are 64 recognised species of the lovely water bird, some are called egrets or bitterns. Keep an eye out for them and the dolphins!
