FREMANTLE TOO HOT TO SKATE

Posted in fremantle, youth by freoview on February 8, 2016

I have never seen the Esplanade Youth Plaza skate park totally empty. Even when it rains some of the braver or more desperate skaters turn up, but today was clearly too hot even for the most addicted to the sport.

I took this photo at around 11.30 am when it was just 38 degrees, so probably a lot hotter with the heat reflecting back from the concrete.

If the hot weather continues it could affect visitors’ numbers to the St Jerome Laneway Festival which is on this Sunday, so let’s hope it will cool down a bit especially for those who will set up the stages, etc.

WARM UP AT FREO WINTER FESTIVAL

Posted in festival, fremantle, winter by freoview on July 11, 2015

winter fire

Stay warm! It was cold this morning just 2.6 degrees when I got up at 4.30 am.

Sitting around the fire and toasting marshmallows is a good option at the Fremantle WINTER GARDEN festival.

It was a rather humid and sticky 33 degree day in Fremantle and while many overseas visitors to the Round House liked the heat, I needed a very cold shower after seven hours on my feet. While it was tempting to put my feet up, I noticed the gorgeous clouds and had to go out again to take a few snaps of the sunset and I caught another snapper doing the same at Bathers Beach.

FREO’S BEAUTIFUL TOWN BEACH

Posted in fremantle by freoview on January 20, 2014

According to the news on ABC radio it was still 37 degrees at 5 pm this afternoon, so I went to cool down at Fremantle‘s beautiful town beach, Bathers Beach. Surprisingly there were not many people there to have a dip in the Indian Ocean and cool down, and Leighton and Port beaches were also relatively quiet.

I took these photos of a dad taking photos of his two boys, and two lovers enjoying the sunset. More hot days all week ahead, so stay cool Freo!

BATHERS IS THE PLACE TO BE ON SATURDAY NIGHT!

Posted in fremantle by freoview on January 12, 2014

What an unbelievable success story the Bathers Beach Sunset Food Markets is for Fremantle and the activation of Arthur Head and Freo’s West End. Over 5000 people came to the markets to take advantage of a strong seabreeze to beat the sweltering heat and most stallholders sold out on food. There were people coming from everywhere, taking advantage of the free parking at TAFE at South Mole. They wandered down the path, trough the Whalers Tunnel or came from Marine Terrace. It was a great fun night for all ages.

The Freo Ramble blog this morning complained about inconsiderate drivers parking just about anywhere, even in front of garages and that is not on.  The City should get a parking inspector to check that out, because market visitors are made aware through this blog, that is linked to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblir and Google that free parking is available at TAFE near the South Mole.

The parking issue last night could also have been made worse with a beat box event on Bathers Beach and the Kelp Bar also open, as well as many people just wanting to get some cool air in the extreme heat and flocking to our inner city beach.

P.S. I am involved with the markets

There is live music by local musicians and the Kelp Bar will be open for those who desire a glass of wine or beer with their meal.

FREMANTLE DOCTOR CURE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on May 29, 2013

While walking around Perth is noticed this sign on a highrise in Adelaide Terrace; Does The Fremantle Doctor Actually Cure Anything? Yes BUPA it does. It cures us here in Fremantle from getting grumpy after stinking hot summer days, it refreshes us and lifts our spirits, it cures us from being heat crazy and from taking ourselves to serious. We love our Freo Doctor!
