HAIRY FREMANTLE BUSKER LOCATION

On my way back from the Fremantle Festival parade yesterday I noticed this busker in a rather awkward location in the High Street mall. I am not sure if he played Brazilian music. ; >)

Photos like these make me love street photography so much as it is all about being in the right location at the right time, and one can’t plan for it.

THE FREO NEW MYRE CONCEPT OPENS TODAY

Posted in fremantle by freoview on October 9, 2013

It looks like the rain is going to make it a perfect Fremantle day for having a look around the shops, so instead of sterile shopping centres, head for MYRE at Kings Square, the new retail concept by the creative and innovative Spacemarket crew.

Have a coffee or haircut, or both, browse for fashion, just check out the variety on offer in a very different but great ambience.

MYRE was not yet ready when I previewed it last week but one could see the huge potential it has, so I hope for those who took the risk, and for Fremantle, that it will work out and that MYRE will become a huge drawcard for shoppers in the Perth metro area.

Also on show stunning aerial photos of Iceland by Jarrad Seng!

Doors open at 10 am.

FREO’S WONDERFUL WEST END

Posted in fremantle by freoview on July 17, 2012

Things are progressing well to make the West End of Fremantle more vibrant. In Pakenham Street the bakery, bar, restaurant is starting to look pretty good, while Steve Wood at Jarrah Corp has put his application for a liquor license in to also create a wine bar on the corner of Pakenham and High streets. On top of that we will also be getting a micro brewery at the former McDonalds, Dome site at Bathers Beach.

Walking through High Street this morning I though what a difference a good street profile and window display makes to the appeal of a shop. Have a look at the B&M Store window dressing. It is gorgeous and so are the stunning big bags. Karteque and Djura always look very appealing and so does Love in Tokyo.

Anyone who sees me knows I am not a fashion freak, people probably describe me more as daggy, but I love Sheree Dornan‘s very feminine clothes at Love in Tokyo and hope my next lover will be wearing her designs. A reason for more hugs!

On the other side of the street is Bill Campbell‘s second hand bookshop. It is so homely that I’d love to live their.

The West End has got many hidden treasures, so go for a treasure hunt on a gorgeous day like today and check out the gems. Freo’s Wonderful West End is a special place to visit, shop and relax.

BAD HAIR DAY IN FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 16, 2012

It was a bad day for hair in Fremantle, but a good one for the Leukaemia Foundation. Fine and upstanding man and women from the City of Fremantle, including Mayor Brad Pettitt, sacrifised their hair and beards to fundraise money for the foundation, as part of the World’s Greatest Shave. There were a few apprehensive faces, so expect some staff taking sickies next week.

I don’t know the amount, but thousands of dollars were raised in fun for the very good cause, so well done all who were brave enough. The enigmatic streetwalker and his boss Andrew Eastwick chickened out, I noticed, as did the CEO. Booooohhh! 9>)

FREO’S MAYOR LOSES HAIR

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 15, 2012

Those of you not happy with Mayor Brad Pettitt and PSA 49 have a chance to show him!  It’s not exactly tar and feathers but as close as you’ll lawfully get, and for a good cause. 9>)

DONATE NOW TO SEE THE MAYOR BOLD TOMORROW!

Here a message from Brad.

I have joined the City of Fremantle team for the World’s Greatest Shave and the more I raise  – the closer I shave:

$0-$100 – colour (probably purple)

$100- 200 number 4 buzz cut

$200-$300 number 3 buzz cut

$300-$400 number 2 buzz cut

$400-$500 number 1 buzz cut

$500+ total shave and polish

So while I say this with some trepidation given I kind of like having hair, please sponsor me at:

http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=433615&langPref=en-CA&Referrer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.worldsgreatestshave.com%2fsupport-2012%2f

The money we raise is used by the Leukemia Foundation to support blood cancer patients and to fund vital research.

We will be making Kings Square buzzzzz on March 16 at 3pm so if you’re free come down for a laugh and which the team gets to lose their hair.

Cheers, Brad

ROUND HOUSE BARBER NEEDED

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 13, 2012

Could someone from the City of Fremantle Parks&Gardens department instruct another someone to please trim the bushes that obscure the steps to the historic tourist attraction Round House. It looks pretty uncared for at the moment. I am not sure that the Afro look does our British history justice.

TA!

LAZY DAY FOR HAIRY MEN

Posted in fremantle by freoview on September 3, 2011

World Beard Day is celebrated annually on an international level with people from every nation and continent gathering together with their beards. It is held on the first Saturday of September (the day before father’s day), and is characterised by the happiness of all people being with their beards and with each other.

On World Beard Day, it is customary for the bearded members of a family to relax and partake in no jobs or chores.

The following bit is really important for those of you in Fremantle!

The beardless members of the family traditionally show their support by waiting on the bearded hand and foot.

World Beard Day is all about promoting and elevating the global status of the beard. Whilst many countries and cities practice World Beard Day customs specific to their own region, shaving on World Beard Day is universally considered to be highly disrespectful.
