FREMANTLE SAILING CLUB RENT TWENTY TIMES INCREASE

The members of the Fremantle Sailing Club have got a huge challenge on their hands. The historic club has received notice from the Department of Transport that the rent they have to pay would increase from $ 34,700 last year to a whopping $ 760,000 this year.

An increase that is twenty times more than the previous rent sounds pretty outrageous to me and the Sailing Club is not happy about it either, so they are going to arbitration and will try to renegotiate the rent.

Good luck!

KEEP BOATS AWAY FROM SOUTH BEACH

Posted in city of fremantle, fremantle, south beach,, Uncategorized by freoview on November 30, 2015

Boat owners want beach access to their boats at Fremantle’s South Beach  and within the area the City of Fremantle only recently approved for a 125-metre exclusion zone so that boats and jet skis would not interfere with swimmers at the popular beach.

Opponents say the Fremantle Sailing Club already has 28 hectares of Fremantle waters and is the largest sailing club with ocean access in the southern hemisphere.

The Department of Transport is conducting a South Metro Aquatic Use survey and wants to approve the 120-metre beach to boats access zone just south of the sailing club’s breakwater, so go to the Transport website and have your say!

FREO COMMUNITY RAISES $ 30,000 FOR NEPAL!

Posted in earthquake, fremantle, nepal by freoview on June 20, 2015

Well done to all the hardworking and passionately committed people in the Fremantle community who organised the RESTORING NEPAL CONCERT and other events. I was just told that close to $ 30,000 was raised for the earthquake victims in Nepal.

So a very, very big THANK YOU! to the musicians from Empire Blues, Mutima Band and the Nervous investors, and to those who donated items for the raffle, and the Fremantle Sailing Club for supplying the venue.

It gives one a real warm and fuzzy feeling to see that people do care, even about countries and people they have never met. Well done all and thank you so much!

FREMANTLE EARLY BIRD

Posted in australia, fremantle, photography, tourism, western australia by freoview on August 7, 2010

After a really good evening at the Mount Hawthorn Jazz Club on Friday I decided to get up bright and early this Saturday morning and enjoy the gorgeous sun rise. The early fog I was hoping for did not eventuate, but I got some lovely photos of the Fremantle Sailing Club and High street and was lucky to watch the young woman who feeds the fish in the aquarium at Cicerellos also feed two pelicans in Fishing Boat Harbour. The luck of the early bird.
