THAT WAS A GREAT FREO LONG WEEKEND!

We live in a special place here in Fremantle when one considers that we had a massive influx of tens of thousands of people over the four days of the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival and the days went peacefully without any big hicups and everyone had a smile on their face.

The 20th street arts festival was not the most outstanding in my opinion with a bit too much of the same for my taste because it lacked variety and creative top class performers.  My favourites were the roaming spectacle of the big birdmen and the funny roving photographers in their rain coats.

But what a great weekend for Freo and hopefully also for our traders!

Here some more impressions I took yesterday of the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival.

It is attracting a lot of people to Freo so I hope it has been a very good weekend for our traders!

The Fremantle International Street Arts Festival is on and it is a whole lot of fun!

I went to have a short look yesterday and there are great funny acts, booming music from WAHONK, the huge birds are wandering around and frighten and delight kids.

There are pop up bars along the Cappuccino Strip and in front of the National Hotel and the West End Weekender is a great retreat along historic High Street.

Don’t miss it! It’s on from midday till early evening.

FUN FREMANTLE LONG WEEKEND AHEAD

If the rest of the long weekend continues like yesterday Fremantle will be in for a treat. I have never seen so many people in town on a Good Friday as yesterday. The city was buzzing, alfresco cafes full, big crowds at the few Fremantle International Street Arts Festival pitches, and a queue at Cicerello’s that was stretched to the outside pavement to order fish&chips. Great!

Due to fighting fever, the flu and hay fever all at once I could not stay out long yesterday so I only took some photos of the magnificent birdmen on the Esplanade.

The street art performances start from noon today. There is also the Western Weekender fun along historic High Street in the West End and the Fremantle Malls Market Day between the Cappuccino Strip and Kings Square.

Have fun everyone!

NOTHING BORING ABOUT GOOD FRIDAY IN FREO!

street art

Good Fridays are no longer boring! The Fremantle International Street Arts Festival already starts today in the far west of Freo, so come enjoy the fun and sunshine.

It is all happening around the Esplanade and Fishing Boat Harbour today so there won’t be any shows in the CBD. They will be added on Saturday, Sunday and Monday..

The shows today run from 12 noon till 5pm, with another evening show at 7pm at the new Seraphim Buskers Bar of Little Creatures. See detail above.

Also on of course is the Woylie Aboriginal Australian Kids Story Festival at the Moores Building in Henry Street.

GOOD FRIDAY FREO FUN DAY

Posted in fishing, fremantle, hospitality, retail, Uncategorized by freoview on April 14, 2017

The boring Good Fridays of the past are over in Fremantle and most cafes are open for business and were busy already just after nine this morning.

I have never seen so many people fishing on the South Mole as today, with (illegal) parking on both sides full.

Supermarkets are closed but the great Peaches in South Freo is open and so are the Fremantle Markets and the Fishing Boat Harbour traders.

The Fremantle International Street Arts Festival is on at the Esplanade from 12-5 pm and there is live music at J Shed from midday and a pancake stall to have some yummy food.

Just go for a wander and explore beautiful old Freo and find more traders open for business.
