It looks like Fremantle will be home for The World cruise liner for quite a while longer as the huge ship can’t sail to any overseas destinations, since most ports were closed to cruise ships coming from overseas ports.

Hopefully the berthing fee The Wold will have to pay Fremantle Ports will make up a little bit for missing out on other cruise ships arriving here.

Buon Giorno and Bom Dia to the passengers and crew of the cruiseliner Vasco Da Gama, which arrived in Fremantle Port on her first ever visit to Fremantle this morning.

Make sure to go and have a look at the Vasco Da Gama memorial on the Esplanade.

FREO WELCOMES MASSIVE MAGNIFICA

I almost missed the maiden arrival to Fremantle Port of the huge MSC Magnifica cruiseliner because it was initially scheduled to arrive tomorrow. But I was lucky to walk at Bathers Beach when I noticed the massive vessel gliding into port, so I went on a long walk to take photos from all different angles.

The Musica-class MSC Magnifica is 294-metres long and normally carries up to 2,550 passengers, but can accommodate a maximum of 3,605 passengers. It cost $ 547 million to build.

It will depart Fremantle tomorrow evening at 10pm if all goes to plans.

The Crystal Serenity cruise liner departed Fremantle Port at 6pm on Wednesday so I headed out to get some shots of it.

The ship was in Fremantle for just a day, as most of them are.

OVATION FOR A WELCOME FREO VISITOR

Ovation of the Seas

The Ovation of the Seas cruiseliner was only in Fremantle Port for one day but she made a big impression on the local economy.

It was a delight to see thousands of tourists wandering the streets of Fremantle, visiting cafes, shops, the Roundhouse, Maritime and Shipwreck museums and Fremantle Prison.

The South Mole was packed when the ship left port at 5.30pm and there were quite a few spectators on the North Mole as well.

FREO’S VIEW readers can’t question the dedication of this decrepit old blogger. Who else would get up at 5.30am to photograph the arrival in Fremantle of a cruiseliner on this very chilly early morning.

The Ovation of the Seas, the world’s fifth largest cruise ship,  passed between the North and South moles of Fremantle Port at 6.45am this morning, carrying some 4,000 passengers. She will be leaving at 5pm this afternoon.

The cruise ship industry is worth millions of dollars to the Fremantle economy each year, so say G’Day when you see our visitors on the streets of Freo today.

FREMANTLE WELCOMES SILVER WHISPER

silver-whisper

The beautiful Silver Whisper cruise ship is in Fremantle harbour but at the unusual location of C Shed, not the Passenger Terminal.

I believe Freo is due for many cruiseliners in the next weeks, which is great as it has been almost eerie quiet in town lately.

BUSY SUNDAY FOR FREMANTLE

Posted in cruiseliner, fremantle, shopping, tourism by freoview on February 12, 2017

It looks like it is going to be a busy Sunday in Fremantle although there is still rain forecast.

The Queen Mary 2 arrived this morning and thousands of passengers were disembarking to take in the sights. Many hopped on busses to the Pinnacles and the Swan Valley, but a large number also walked into Freo.

City of Fremantle volunteer guides were at hand to assist with directions and information.

Add to that the 10,000 spectators expected this afternoon at Fremantle Oval for the first home game of the Dockers AFL women’s team and it should be buzzing in good old Freo this afternoon.

Come visit Freo today and enjoy the unique atm0sphere and the many quirky shops and cafes you won’t find in any shopping centre!
