Wishing my Fremantle family-YOU!- a very relaxing and beautiful Christmas.

We live in a wonderful city with a wonderful community that has a very bright future.

Thank you all for your friendship and support.

The photo is of the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, which I used to photograph every year for 13 years, when I worked for the newspapers there. A young woman from the community is chosen as the Christmas Child and there is an official opening of the very romantic market every year.

Yummy little Nuremberg Bratwurst and delicious mulled wine, but it’s bloody cold of course. ;>) It is well worth a visit!

Happy Christmas!

Two interesting Fremantle shop windows. The first one at the Compendium design-store in High Street, that has a Christmas present for those who already got everything- a Freo keyring!

The second one is at Studio One in Norfolk Street with a different kind of Christmas decoration.

I don’t know who the mother and baby are, but it is my favourite photo of the ones I took at the Carols by Candlelight in Fremantle this evening, and the pic looks even better in Black&White.

LOTS OF PHOTOS OF FREO’S CAROLS EVENT

A lot of people turned up for the Fremantle Carols by Candlelight, and no doubt that was due to the Fremantle Doctor seabreeze arriving quite early and turning the very hot day into a very pleasant evening.

It is community events like this one that makes me go all warm and fuzzy about the city I live in. I just LOVE FREO!

I took a lot of photos, so please share the link on your social media, so people might see themselves in one or some of the shots.

COME ON DOWN TO FREO’S COOL CAROLS!

Posted in children, christmas, city of fremantle, Uncategorized by freoview on December 15, 2019

The sea breeze has been cooling down the port city for over an hour, so the temperature is dropping steadily and it will be a nice balmy evening at Fremantle Oval for the Carols by Candelight, so COME ON DOWN!

Bring the kids, the grandparents, family, friends and neighbours and enjoy our Freo community. Out of towners very welcome, of course, so looking forward to seeing a lot of people from Cockburn, East Freo, Melville and beyond.

It is a FREE event and starts at 6.30 till 8pm. Gates open at 5. Bring a blanket to sit on the grass.

See you there and smile when you see this old shooter pointing the camera at you. ; >)

LET SANTA PAY FOR FREO PARKING!

Posted in city of fremantle, local government, parking by freoview on December 3, 2019

Santa Claus and his helpers are back in Freo spreading Christmas cheer and paying for shoppers’ parking.

The big guy from the North Pole will be visiting car parks and businesses in the city centre on Mondays through to Thursdays, handing out lollies to the kids and paying for parking, from now right up until Christmas Eve.

For tips on Santa’s whereabouts and updates on the latest sightings, check out the City of Fremantle Facebook page.

If you see Santa and his elf grab a selfie and tag the City of Fremantle.

Along with free parking Santa, the City of Fremantle’s Christmas shopping initiative to provide two-hour free parking at all of its off-street car parks has kicked off today.

The free parking offer will run until Boxing Day and be available Monday to Thursday from 9am-4pm via the City of Fremantle’s PayStay mobile parking app.

To take advantage of the free parking offer all people need to do is download the PayStay app and activate their parking sessions via the app.

It is no longer a requirement to pre-load credit to use PayStay. People who download the app and register for the first time using a postcode in the Perth metro area will have their minimum credit balance and minimum top-up amount automatically set to zero.

People who have already registered with PayStay can login to their account on the website or the app and set their minimum balances to zero.

The PayStay app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or by visiting the PayStay website.

FREEO PARKING CLARIFICATION

Posted in cars, christmas, city of fremantle, local government, parking, Uncategorized by freoview on December 2, 2019

THERE WAS A COMMENT ABOUT THE FREE CHRISTMAS PARKING IN FREMANTLE AND THE CLAIM MOTORISTS HAD TO PAY UPFRONT TO USE THE NEW PARKING SERVICE, BUT THAT HAS CHANGED ACCORDING TO THE CITY OF FREMANTLE, SEE BELOW:

I noticed the comment on your post about the free parking offer via Paystay about having to ‘pre-load’ credit in order to use PayStay.

When PayStay was first launched that was true – although it wasn’t $20 (it required a minimum credit balance of $5 and then a minimum top up amount of $5, so effectively the pre-load was $10).

However based on the initial feedback we received from the public we got PayStay to change that quite some time ago.

Now people can go onto the PayStay website https://www.paystay.com.au/ (they can do this on their phone) and set their minimum balance and top-up to zero, which therefore means you pay as to you go.

And the free parking offer is not on weekends! Only Monday to Thursday.

LONG TABLE CHRISTMAS MARKET

Posted in charity, christmas, city of fremantle, Uncategorized by freoview on November 19, 2019

The fantastic FREO LONG TABLE dinner event on November 28  is only two weeks away and will also feature a Christmas Market in Henry Street, organised by the Moore&Moore cafe.

The Freo West End Christmas will be a feast for the senses to accompany the Fremantle Long Table Dinner.

Working in partnership with St Pat’s and The National Hotel, M&M invites the community to explore a range of homemade gifts and goodies on offer at more than 40 market stalls; grab a bite to eat from one of many food sellers and enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening.

Visitors will love the visually spectacular roaming performances from Circus WA and WASAMBA – and Freo favourites the Witchy Djypsies will deliver another fantastic set of their signature gypsy jazz tunes.

Any profits made on the night will go directly to St Pat’s, to ensure they can continue to provide services for people who are homeless and disadvantaged in Fremantle and across south-west metro.

Stallholders include Paperbird; Dingo Sauce; Inkling Art Space; Little Seed Handmade Jewellery; Kath Wrote a Picture; High Spirits Distillery; Luke’s Pure Raw Honey; The Natural Food Emporium; Simply Sustainable Market Co; Excuse my French; Pearls and Diamonds by Dana; Pure Relaxation; Mamatree and many, many more.
