After a huge regional program in WA mid-year as part of their mammoth 2 year tour of Australia, the Gyuto Monks of Tibet return to the west for their last 5 days before returning to their monastery in Dharamsala in the foothills of the Himalayas.

They fly in on January 22nd for a Harmonic Chanting performance at the Fremantle Yoga Centre at E Shed on Victoria Quay, then down to Yallingup for a weekend Meditation Retreat then return to Fremantle on Australia Day 26th for the Biennial Cricket Match hosted by Clancy’s Fish Pub and this time the monks hope to claim the Cup as they were pipped at the post in 2013 losing by one run! It’s a fun day out for all. Whether they win or not, they will finish the day by heading straight for the airport to return to India.

From Darwin to Tasmania and east to west these monks just keep on going. It’s their 21st visit since 1994 to Australia and today, more than ever, what they offer seems more relevant than ever.   Whether its fear, anxiety, depression or simply looking for purpose in life, from teenagers to the elderly and everyone in between, they offer inspiration, hope and human affection.

Catch these monks before they go – the long Australia Day weekend will be a very special occasion.

GYUTO MONKS OF TIBET RETURN TO FREMANTLE

Following a huge regional program in WA mid-year as part of their mammoth 2 year tour of Australia, the GYUTO MONKS OF TIBET return to the west for their last 5 days before returning to their monastery in Dharamsala in the foothills of the Himalayas.

They fly in on January 22 for a Harmonic Chanting performance at the Fremantle Yoga Centre at E Shed, then whip down to Yallingup for a weekend Meditation Retreat, to return to Fremantle on Monday January 25 for the Biennial Cricket Match hosted by Clancy’s Fish Pub. This time the monks hope to claim the Divinity Cup as they were pipped at the post in 2013 losing by one run! It’s a fun day out for all. I played in the inaugural match but never had to bowl or bat, so that’s probably why the Clancy’s team won.

Sadly, the monks remain stateless persons, refugees, unable to live in the country of their birth in peace where there is no tolerance or freedom to practice their way of life.

Catch these monks before they go – the weekend will be a very special occasion and it’s a great time of year to get clear on your goals and direction for the year.

GYUTO MONKS RETURN TO FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on May 24, 2014

The lovable Gyuto Monks of Tibet are coming back to Fremantle again but won’t be at the Town Hall this time. Instead they will be at the Fremantle Yoga Centre on Victoria Quay, with the opening ceremony starting on Monday June 2 from 7-9 pm. This will be the Blessing Ceremony and the drawing of the blueprint for the Yamatanka Sand Mandala.

I’ll report closer to the time on the days and times of chanting, meditation and other activities of the Gyuto Monks.

Those down south will be happy to know the monks will be spending time at Clancys in Dunsborough as well.

GYUTO MONKS WELCOME BACK TO FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on July 9, 2013

Fremantle Town Hall will once again echo to the deep harmonic sounds of the chanting of the GYUTO MONKS of TIBET in a concert performance   ‘Echoes of Enlightenment’ Friday 28th July.  Wonder and amazement as listeners hear female voices, whistles, layers of sound but it’s all in the chanting of the monks – an experience of transformation unlike any other.

The monks will be back at the Town Hall for two weeks starting on July 15 and finishing on July 28 to create the very rare 3 dimensional Green Tara String Mandala, and do chanting, meditations and talks. This special Mandala was traditionally constructed in Tibet only when commissioned by the Government to avoid disasters and what we might term here recessions and instead creates prosperity.

Come to the Town Hall for a feeling of great relaxation and don’t miss the chanting, it is divine and creates goosebumps!

DALAI LAMA JOINS FREMANTLE DOCKERS

Posted in fremantle by freoview on June 19, 2012

The Gyuto Monks of Tibet have set up home in the Fremantle Town Hall till June 29 to create  a Mandala. There will also be Morning Meditations at 10 am each day, Culture for Kids with Tibetan Monk Dolls, personal Pujas, and more.

On June 28 at 8 pm there will be Harmonic Chanting.

There is also a lovely portrait of the smiling Dalai Lama with a Fremantle Dockers scarf around his neck, presented to him on his visit here last year. This large framed photo will be auctioned in a silent auction, so write down what you’d want to pay for it. I believe it should get a place in the reception of Fremantle Dockers HQ.
