BOAT CAMPING AT BATHERS BEACH

Posted in city of fremantle, maritime by freoview on September 9, 2015

shipwreck

This boat has now been stranded on Fremantle’s Bathers Beach since August 29 and it does not appear any efforts are being made to get it floating again. It seems the owners are now camping on our city beach and people in the West End are wondering what the rules and regulations are.

Fremantle Ports got rid of all the illegal campers on the South Mole by enforcing strict three hour parking rules, so why does the City of Fremantle allows this boat to stay on the beach. There could be a message for others that it is o.k. to do so and before we know we could have twenty small craft camping there on summers’ nights.

NOT SUCH PLAIN SAILING

Posted in fremantle, sailing by freoview on August 31, 2015

sailing

It has not been plain sailing for the owner of this small boat which broke its anchor rope and is now on the sand at Fremantle’s Bathers Beach just below the historic Roundhouse.

Let’s hope he can find a few mates to pull him off as the weather forecast is for lightning and storms this afternoon, so not brilliant to leave the boat there for too long.

FIRE AT FREMANTLE PORT

A large fire is happening right now on Rous Head at Fremantle port where 60 fire fighters are battling a blaze at Northport Marine Services. First reports said it was on a boat but it appears to be bigger than that with smoke coming out of a large building as we could observe from the North Mole.

Thirteen fore appliances from Fremantle, Murdoch, Success, Hope Valley, Joondalup, Canning Vale, Gosnells, Daglish and Jandakot are on the scene.

BALMY FREMANTLE SUMMER

Posted in fremantle, summer by freoview on January 21, 2015

It has been a very pleasant summer in Fremantle so far with the early sea breeze keeping the temperatures down on most days and making the nights balmy. I took these photos of the Maritime Museum and Indian Ocean at sunset yesterday. They make for a good start of the mid week.

PEACEFUL MORNING GLORY OFF FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle, indian ocean by freoview on January 20, 2015

Morning glory

The Indian Ocean was so calm this morning just after six that I was tempted to try to walk on it. But I had my Jesus moments in my twenties when I more looked like him, so mature wisdom won the battle over dreamlike desire and I stayed on the Fremantle South Mole to admire the beauty of the soft colours and very peaceful environment.

ROTTNEST EXPRESS MARCH SPECIAL

Posted in fremantle by freoview on March 17, 2014

I love watching the coming and going at Rottnest Express on Victoria Quay in the Fremantle harbour. Locals bring what appears to be half of their household, nervous overseas tourists, kids excited with anticipation, bikes and luggage everywhere, and every language from around the planet spoken. Often a few dolphins pop up to have a look and smile about the spectacle.

All this month of March the ferry tickets are only half price so take advantage off it and book early on-line.

Here some photos I took this morning.

BATHERS BAY SUNSET

Posted in fremantle by freoview on July 29, 2012

There is a change in the air with nature starting the spring cleaning already and people getting out and about more often.

Here a photo I took on Saturday at Fremantle‘s Bathers Bay around sunset.

FREO’S WILD WATER

Posted in fremantle by freoview on July 23, 2012

Pretty wild water under the Fremantle Traffic Bridge made the Swan River look like the Avon Descent.

The Avon Descent by the way is in a fortnight, so hopefully we’ll get some more rain between now and then.

SEEING RED IN FREO – PART FOUR

Posted in fremantle, photography by freoview on July 21, 2012

I promise! This is the last photo in the red reflection series I shot in Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour this morning.

It is a stunningly gorgeous day in our port city at the Indian Ocean, so take the kids to the ice rink on the Esplanade, relax for a long lunch in an alfresco cafe, or simply wander aimlessly and enjoy the beauty of life and people.

SEEING RED IN FREO-PART ONE

Posted in fremantle, photography by freoview on July 21, 2012

It needs a kick in the bum to get up early when it is so cold, but I just love the early light and got some beaut photos of reflections this morning at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. There are four I love, so I will put them up separately to do them justice.

Here is numero uno!
