Posted in city of fremantle, family, Uncategorized by freoview on August 11, 2017

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS! to Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt and his partner Emma.

The couple had their first child earlier this week. It’s a girl!!!!

No doubt the parents are as much in awe off their newborn as I am about babies in general. These beautiful little creatures are the true miracles in the world and a blessing.

FREO HAS A LITTLE CHALKY!

Posted in fremantle, hospitality, tourism by freoview on March 31, 2016

Congratulations to Sarah and Shaun Mulcock, the delightful owners of Chalkys cafe in Fremantle’s West End, who had their first baby on Sunday. Little Noah will in the good old Freo tradition no doubt be a barista before he can walk, so I can’t wait for him to make an espresso for me.

Chalkys will also be opening a new cafe just down the road in High Street. The High Street Dispensary will open next to the new chemist there. Two new babies in one year, now that’s a commitment!

FREO J SHED ART AS REST FOR NEW MOTHERS

Posted in art, fremantle by freoview on August 27, 2013

This is the beautiful seat created for the King Edward Memorial Hospital in Subiaco by Fremantle J Shed ceramic artist Jenny Dawson in collaboration with indigenous artists Jilalga Murray and Elsie Woods. It’s meant as a kind of outdoor meeting place where new mothers and their babies can meet with family and friends.

FREO’S J SHED ART REST FOR NEW MUMS

Posted in art, fremantle by freoview on July 29, 2013

The creative production line at  J Shed on Bathers Beach is very impressive. Just after having installed her huge sundial public art work in Port Hedland, Fremantle J Shed artist Jenny Dawson is creating another stunning piece. Here a quick preview glimpse at another wonderful ceramic work that will installed as a large bench seat with back, plus four individual small round seats, at the King Edward Memorial Hospital in Subiaco, for new mothers, their babies and their families to enjoy.

The work was done in collaboration with Nyoongar artists Jilalga Murray and Elsie Woods, with some twigs and leaves of native flora embedded into the ceramic tiles.

Installation of the artwork at the hospital will be next week if the weather permits, so I’ll show it here on the blog then.

FREO SPIN DOCTOR’S BABY PRINCE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on July 24, 2013

While the world’s media is salivating about the baby of the British royals Kate and William,  Fremantle’s own spin doctor Jason Cunningham and his wife Trina also announced the birth of their baby boy Paxton Jude, who was born at 9.34 pm on Tuesday the 23rd of July. The stunning looking boy weights in at 2.84 kg and is 49 cm long. Of course I’d love to show you a photo of mother and baby but would need approval from Freo’s master of spin and his lovely wife.

The Facebook grapevine reports that between 6 pm and the birth of the baby boy, Jason ate 2 three-course hospital meals while he wife was in labour. He ate honey mustard chicken, lamb curry, ice cream, lemon meringue, chicken soup, assorted sandwiches and chocolate.  We’ll put that down to nerves I reckon, or maybe out of solidarity with his wife Jason tried to look pregnant as well. ; >)

Congratulations Jason and Trina! For me babies are the true miracles of our world.

SPOIL YOUR MUM ROTTEN TODAY!

Posted in fremantle by freoview on May 13, 2012

In a world of more, where we constantly want more, without really needing more, it is important to contemplate that more is not always better. Mothers are proof of that.

We only have one mother, that special woman that gave birth to us, and then sacrificed so much of her life to look after us and to give us a future.

Those mothers lucky enough to live in good relationships, like my mum, have the support of their partners, but single mothers especially deserve even more praise, because raising children is even harder for them.

Today is the day where we should all think about that most special person in our life, no matter how old we are. My mum’s name is Annie. She was born in September 1916 and died at the age of 82. She worked very hard all her life, looking after five children and a corner shop. I wished I could have told her more often, and much longer, how much I value what she did for me.

If you still have your mother, spoil her rotten today! She is the one who definitely deserves more!!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY ALL YOU SPECIAL MUMS OUT THERE!

NECTAR FOR WOMEN

Posted in fremantle by freoview on February 15, 2012

Flamboyant’ women will be gathering in Fremantle for a ‘divine dinner’ on International Women’s Day this year at Red Tent Events’ annual Nectar For Women celebration. But the flamboyant dress code belies the serious intent behind this year’s event, which marks the beginning of an exciting new initiative that will look to support future generations of women who need birth support, post natal care or financial assistance due to crises or because they are caring for disadvantaged loved ones.

Kylie Wheatley has established ‘Nectar for Women’ with the Fremantle Foundation, and all monies raised at this year’s Nectar event will build up Nectar For Women.

Nectar’s  dinner will be at the Fremantle Town Hall on the 7th of March, 6-11:30pm and features entertainment from Kavisha Mazzella and Mama Kin in an intimate yet grand setting, with sensational fare from international chef, Kirsten Atyeo and Clancy’s Fish Pub.

Nectar for Women will be managed by the Fremantle Foundation, ensuring all donations are tax deductible and can contribute to the lives of local women forever.

For bookings and more information on Nectar go to http://www.nectarfestival.com.au

HERALD SCRIBE’S NEW BABY BOY

Posted in fremantle by freoview on October 31, 2011

EXCLUSIVE!!!! 5 > )

Likable Fremantle Herald reporter Brendan Foster has got a huge smile on his face. It’s a bit hard to see through the long hair, but it’s there!

Brendan’s partner Melissa Cranfield delivered a perfect little boy named Frankie Rory. He is a great new addition to the two other children the couple already have.

Babies are the true miracles of the world for me, so I can imagine the delight this new born has brought to the Foster/Cranfield mob. Congratulations!!
