No signs of major storm damage in Fremantle. A few broken branches along Riverside Drive in East Freo and along Point Walter Road but that’s it. At present the sun is even shining in Beaconsfield, so I might not need the heater today after all.

Some THIS IS FREMANTLE banners at South Terrace got loose but not ripped.

I hear people say the new Destination Marketing banners are supportive of Alzheimer sufferers as they now always know they are in Freo, but my theory is that Fremantle Council has, as always, been leading the way and future focused.

In case those ‘pesky Chinese or North Koreans’ jam the satellites and all GPS systems break down people who drive or ride into our gorgeous port city will just have the Eureka moment- AAAAH, we are in Fremantle. ūüėá

There could be some nice rainbows today. Go and have a look!

NEW PROMOTION FOR WRAY AVENUE PRECINCT

Posted in city of fremantle, promotion by freoview on April 1, 2016

The City of Fremantle has installed new banners around the Wray Ave/South Tce intersection to promote the Wray Avenue Precinct. Sadly one at the roundabout already got damaged by a large vehicle, a truck or bus.

The banners look good, and so does the delightful little Wray Ave hub.

ART BEATS FOOTBALL

Posted in art, fremantle, sport by freoview on September 10, 2014

Only ever so slightly tongue in cheek.

Art exhibitions attract larger crowds than the AFL. With around 11 million visitors a year, galleries are more highly attended than Australia’s most popular spectator sport which had 10 million attendances in 2009-10.

If that is the case, why don’t we have banners around Fremantle promoting our art galleries, Bathers Beach Art Precinct, exhibition openings, etc. but get mad about the local footy team playing in the AFL finals?

Go the Dockers! Brilliant game to be expected by Waters and Fyfe. I predict a 17 point win for the Freo Dockers over Port Adelaide!

FREO FIGHTING ON ALL FRONTS

Posted in fremantle by freoview on September 8, 2014

I hope this isn’t a bad omen for the Fremantle Dockers football club, but the view of the banners hanging upside down along the Cappuccino Strip, after last night’s storm is¬†not a good sign, and neither was the devastating form of Port Adelaide on Sunday.

One can only hope for the best, and the next big storm is about an hour away, so Freo and the Dockers will just have to batten down.

STORM MAKES MESS OF FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on September 8, 2014

The things I do to keep my readers up to date. Good morning Fremantle! I went for an early drive to get an idea of the storm damage and it does not appear that too much was done in Freo. But the place looks a proper mess after the very strong gales of last night with most Go Freo banners on the Cappuccino Strip torn, the verge collection at White Gum Valley is now all over the roads, bins have been blown over all around the inner city, many landing on the road, tug boats are keeping ships in place at Victoria Quay after some broke their moorings over night, and in other suburbs trees have fallen over and roofs have been peeled off.

This morning we can expect thunder and showers, with more gale force winds coming through mid afternoon. Stay home with a good book if you can, while I be battling the elements at the Round House.

GO FREO DOCKERS!

Posted in fremantle by freoview on September 3, 2014

go freo 1 go freo 2

The Fremantle Cappuccino Strip is painted purple, banners, flags and signs are popping up all over the city, including at the Esplanade Hotel and the Left Bank bar, as the Fremantle community is getting ready to seriously party and welcome the AFL flag to Freo for the first time in the history of the Fremantle Dockers football club.

I hope the Dockers will celebrate at Fremantle Oval instead of Subiaco, win or lose!

On a different note, the new little Ball&Chain bar at the Esplanade Hotel on the corner of Collie Street is looking very cosy and should open pretty soon.

BE PART OF THE FREMANTLE STORY

Posted in fremantle by freoview on January 21, 2014

New banners were put up along the Cappuccino Strip this morning when I drove through, so I had to check out what they are about of course. It looks like Fremantle is starting a new marketing campain BE PART OF THE STORY. The http://www.fremantlestory.com.au was not on-line yet as I tried it out a minute ago, so I assume there will be an official launch in the next day or so.

I’d love a story telling website/blog for Fremantle, where people can share stories and photos of the past, and of course story telling is very much part of Aboriginal culture.

FREO FESTIVAL BANNERS

Posted in fremantle by freoview on November 1, 2013

On Wednesday I complained there were no banners showing the FREMANTLE FESTIVAL is on, but today I discovered some on Marine Parade. They look great, but they should also be on show in the Cappuccino Strip and near the railway station.

NEW BANNERS BRIGHTEN FREMANTLE PORT

Posted in fremantle by freoview on September 2, 2012

I noticed these new colourful banners on Victoria Quay yesterday. I am not sure if they are part of the new precinct signage the City of Fremantle is introducing, or if these are done by Fremantle Ports.
