RAIN IS GOOD FOR FISHING

fishing

The Fremantle South Mole was packed with anglers this morning trying to take advantage of the rainy weather and catch a lot of fish. It is not often that crowded, so had to take a photo.

LET’S CELEBRATE THE RAIN

Posted in fremantle, photography, rain by freoview on March 26, 2016

rain 1 rain 2

I hope the rain will stay away from midday till mid evening on the long weekend so that the Fremantle Street Arts Festival can go ahead. It would be such a shame if it would be negatively affected by the weather as it is always so much fun.

But let’s celebrate the first decent soaking rain in Freo with two of my golden oldies. The top one is a reflection in puddles on the street and the second one of a reflection and rain drops on a car roof.

FREO STILL WAITING FOR A RAINY DAY

Posted in concert, fremantle, weather by freoview on March 19, 2016

rain 1

It wasn’t exactly the downpour I hoped for today and I counted only 1271 raindrops while driving around Fremantle. It is probably good though that it isn’t heavy rain as our Fremantle local band San Cisco are playing at J Shed this afternoon. They are nice ‘kids’ who I photographed practising in a backroom of their parents place in South Fremantle for the Herald many years ago. Great to see them having so much success!

It is still dark and cloudy, so we might get a few more drops.

WHAT A GREAT FREO AUTUMN DAY!

What a great Fremantle autumn day it is today! Time to get out for a walk and sit somewhere in the sun reading one of the Dutch books my sister Marja sent me. Life is good when one lives in Freo. ; > )

CHANGE OF SEASONS

Posted in autumn, fremantle, seasons, weather by freoview on April 10, 2015

The change of seasons has come over Fremantle quite sudden and is possibly the reason I am feeling a bit lethargic and am yearning for hibernation with some good books, a few bottles of red, a wee drop of port and a big pot of Dutch pea&ham soup.

It was pretty quiet at the Round House yesterday and High Street mostly looked deserted in the constant drizzle that improved to showers now and then. Four lonely yachts were practising against a big grey sky and hard to see through the mist of rain, while looking at an arriving container ship through a wet windscreen always creates its own artwork.

I hope the weather will clear for tomorrow evening’s free concert by the FREMANTLE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA at the Freo Arts Centre. It starts at 7 pm, so come along, bring a rug and blanket and maybe thermal underwear.

RAIN FRESHENS UP FREO

Freo soaking

The heavy rain kept me awake most of the night, but what a delight to receive so much rain in Fremantle. I can’t recall non stop rain for ten or so hours and it has really freshened up the city and the gardens smell so good. The Esplanade had difficulties draining all that water, so that created a few ‘lakes’.

WATERCOLOUR MAGIC AT FREO MARITIME MUSEUM

Posted in fremantle, photography by freoview on May 8, 2013

It is annoying that WordPress does no longer allow for slide shows on this blog as a series of photos can only be shown as small thumbnails. This photo of the Fremantle Maritime Museum is too arty to be hidden I believe, hence I did not put it with the previous post about the autumn storms. The watercolour effect is not a Photoshop application. The photo was taken through the wet passenger side window of my car and that created the soft pastel tones.

AUTUMN STORM HITS FREMANTLE

Posted in fremantle by freoview on May 8, 2013

I love storms, bad weather, lightning and thunder, so I could not resist having a drive around this afternoon and take photos. At Fremantle‘s Leighton Beach, walking against the wind, I thought my eyeballs would blow out so strong was the storm. The Swan River looked like an ocean with waves crashing ashore at Bicton, Applecross and Point Walter.
