There are still some quite heavy showers around Fremantle on this last day of autumn, so take an umbrella with you when going out for a walk.

Fallen leaves always create a sense of nostalgia in me. My mind goes back to the autumns and winters I spent in the Netherlands and Germany, and the thick carpets of fallen leaves in the forests, and that rustling sound the dry ones make when one walks through them.

I am a bit of an old romantic, so this morning on my way to Chalkys cafe at the Roundhouse I took these two photos in High Street.

Looking for beauty in everything makes life very special.

FREMANTLE BUFFETED BY STORM

Posted in city of fremantle, storm, Uncategorized, weather by freoview on May 6, 2020

That is one hell of a storm this morning, with some of the strongest wind I have encountered in Fremantle. I literally could not keep on my feet at the Bathers Beach boardwalk.

If the answer is really blowing in the wind, we should be able to find it today.

I took a few photos on my way to Chalkys cafe, with the recycle bins at my apartment block being blown over, a branch of a tree in Norfolk Street and fences being flattened in Slip Street in Fremantle Port.

And it’s pretty nippy as well and I could have done with a jacket and long pants, but for real men like me that is just invigorating. ;>)) Brrrrrr!

A STUNNING FREO SUNDAY

It is a stunning ANZAC weekend Sunday, so there are a lot of people around Fremantle going for rides on their bicycles, walking and driving cars.

I wandered over to South Beach and noticed a lot of pleasure crafts on the Indian Ocean as well, so people are taking advantage of the pleasant weather, while most are adhering to the social distancing rules.

WA Premier Mark McGowan announced this morning that from Monday, indoor and outdoor non work gatherings will be relaxed to 10 people and that the number of people allowed to be at weddings has increased to 10, the same as funerals

At a table in front of the Fremantle J Shed at Fleet Street the raindrops on this coronavirus sign made for an interesting photo.

SHAPES OF FREMANTLE

Fremantle shapes

I liked the shapes when I noticed the sailing boats at Bathers Bay with the umbrellas of the Bathers Beach House in the foreground.

A bit of colour to start a beautiful Freo weekend.

FREMANTLE UPSIDE DOWN

The FREMANTLE HERITAGE FESTIVAL is on all week, so I combined the autumn weather with heritage buildings and took these upside down/down under reflections in puddles of some historic buildings today.

WILD, WET AND NOISY FREO MORNING

Posted in city of fremantle, photography, rain, Uncategorized, weather by freoview on April 22, 2018

winter 1

Fremantle people stayed at home, maybe even in bed, this wild, wet and wonderful Sunday morning as thunder, lightning and heavy rain visited our old city.

I was the only customer at the normally very busy Chalkys cafe in the West End at 7.30am and was one of only three customers at IGA in South Fremantle at 8.30am.

The photo above is a golden oldie I took last year of the reflection of a tree in a puddle in Phillimore Street with a leaf floating on the water. It symbolises autumn for me.

showers

A few nice showers in Fremantle this morning, so I took this photo during my short stint at the Roundhouse, which I had to cut short.

FINALLY GLORIOUS RAIN IN FREMANTLE!

Rain

How nice to wake up to the sounds and smell of rain in Fremantle this morning, and getting a free car wash.
