FREMANTLE ANZAC DAY PARADE

Posted in ANZAC DAY, fremantle, Uncategorized by freoview on April 25, 2017

A decent crowd turned out for the Fremantle Anzac Day parade this morning and I heard  there was a big crowd for the dawn service at Monument Hill, which I missed due to bad health.

The ANZA derby between the South and East Fremantle football clubs is on at Fremantle Oval at 4 pm today and the weather is perfect for it, so support the day.

RACIST FOOLS LITTER FREMANTLE

Posted in aboriginal, fremantle, multicultural, racism, Uncategorized by freoview on April 22, 2017

Just three days before ANZAC Day racist fools have plastered offensive posters around the Fremantle Bathers Beach area proclaiming  we should be proud to be white Australians.

It would do these ignorant idiots a whole lot of good if they read a bit about the history of Australia and the immense contribution people from all races, cultures and skin colours made to this country and help make it the great multicultural society we now are.

I am grateful to those people who scratched and removed some of the posters, so if you are around the area, bring something sharp to scratch this rubbish off. They are on the Esplanade and at Bathers.

FREMANTLE WET ANZAC DAY PARADE

Posted in ANZAC DAY, fremantle, photography by freoview on April 25, 2016

It was very wet during this year’s Fremantle ANZAC Day parade and that kept people at home unfortunately. But for the not so faint hearted it was a special spectacle everyone enjoyed.

FREMANTLE ANZAC DAWN SERVICE PHOTOS

Posted in ANZAC DAY, fremantle by freoview on April 25, 2016

It was full house at Fremantle’s Monument Hill for the ANZAC Day dawn service this morning and the rain stayed away for this very solemn event.

Great to see so many families with very young children, and teenagers, young lovers and many oldies.

I went to the North Fremantle ceremony for the first time and the rain started coming in then.

The next blog post will show photos of the pretty wet parade through town.

VERY FREO BLINCO STREET FLEA MARKET

Posted in fremantle, hospitality, markets by freoview on April 24, 2016

What a lovely atmosphere today at the Blinco Street Cafe FLEA MARKET in the very arty and hippy Fremantle Fibonacci Centre, and how nice to see so many people turn up to grab a bargain, listen to live music, catch up with friends and have an excellent coffee and meal at the cute little cafe.

I hope they will make this into a regular once a month event during the colder months.

If you haven’t been to the Blinco Street Cafe go and try it out. Tomorrow morning they will open at 4.30 am to cater for the people who attend the ANZAC DAY dawn service, so go and grab a cuppa on your way to Monument Hill! The cafe is only a three-minute walk away from it.

A bit of self-indulgence. I love those clouds so much that I want to repost this photo that I published in B&W yesterday.

Don’t forget the Growers Green Market in on till 12 today and the Fibonacci Centre FLEA MARKET runs at Blinco Street from 11.30.

The cute cafe is open for food and coffee, artists will have their studios open, and go have a chat with the lovely people at Spandau Yoga. And of course there will be live music!

WALKING THE DOG AT MONUMENT HILL

walking the dog

Only two more sleeps until the ANZAC Day dawn ceremony at Fremantle Monument Hill, but when I noticed these photogenic clouds late this afternoon I had to find a nice spot to photograph them from.

The monument silhouetted against the sky would have done, but the couple walking their dog added a bit to the overall magic of the moment.
