ARTISTS AGAINST AIDS PROJECT

Posted in art, bangladesh, fremantle, west australian by freoview on May 29, 2015

I received the email below from my friends Ros and Ian de Souza, so check out the crowd funding site and support them:

For the past 18 months Ian and I have been working with a group of artists from Western Australia developing an arts in health project called DRAWNTOGETHER – the Art of Life.

Our DRAWNTOGETHER team has been invited by UNAIDS to deliver a community arts workshop program in 2015 for people living with HIV/AIDS in Bangladesh.

Please take 3 minutes to view our Pozible campaign on http://www.pozible.com/project/196613 and, if you can, please spread the word to your networks with this link to help us get to Dhaka in July. It will make a real difference where it is most needed.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Ian and Ros de Souza

RESTORING NEPAL-THE FUNDRAISING JOURNEY OF A COMMUNITY is a Fremantle based initiative to help the earthquake victims in Nepal. This is what the Facebook page states:

This is our journey to raise $20,000 in emergency earthquake relief in Nepal ~ being donated to Oxfam and The Gyuto Monks of Tibet.

We are a grass roots community group with members from the Perth Nepalese community, ethical fashion retailers based in Nepal, the Gyuto Monks of Tibet (based in Kathmandu), the University of Notre Dame, and individuals and families who have been personally affected by the earthquake disaster.

Come and meet our team at fashion and music events linked below or donate to our Crowd Funding page.

FREMANTLE FUNDRAISER FOR NEPAL!

Posted in earthquake, fremantle, nepal, tiber by freoview on May 3, 2015

nepal

Save the date! JUNE 13! FUNDRAISER FOR NEPAL AT THE FREMANTLE SAILING CLUB!!!!

Live music, silent auction, raffles with all prizes donated by our generous community with big hearts. More details soon!
All donations to Oxfam and the Gyuto Monks in Nepal.

We plan to buy 50 families or more with Oxfam family packs over 500 will be helped with tents, drinking water, blankets, portaloos, first aid kits, etc.

The monks, like most others in Kathmandu, are outside under tents/tarpaulins with little access to water and food and other facilities. They are unsure about the condition of their monastery and not allowed to and too frightened to go inside.

The Gyuto Monks are very well-known in Fremantle and have made regular visits to Freo. They also have participated in the very funny Divinity Cup cricket matches in Princess May Park, playing against teams from Clancy’s and  St Patrick’s.

COME AND SUPPORT THE FUNDRAISER OR JUST DONATE MONEY!

I will post more details soon as they come to hand.

DONATE WARM CLOTHES FOR SYRIA!

Posted in fremantle by freoview on November 4, 2013

While the days are getting hotter here in Freo, the South Fremantle Senior High School will be accepting donations of jumpers, sweaters and jackets for the 2 million refugees now facing freezing temperatures in Syria. The Salvos and Minderoo Foundation are sending them to the refugees in United Nations refugee camps.

Fremantle people are known for their generosity and compassion, and this is one way in which we can help out those who are suffering.

Drop off jumpers in the front office during school hours 8.30 – 4.00, or on Thursday 7th November until 7.00 pm when the school will be hosting the Freo School Fiesta (part of the Fremantle Festival). Last donations accepted on Friday 8th November.

Come on Freo! Instead of stowing away your winter clothes, or heaven forbid, throw them in the bin, donate them to people who badly need them.
