Freo's View

Destination marketing, redevelopment, placemaking, and all that stuff are not going to help Fremantle much when one of our major inner city car parks closes at 9pm.

That is happening at the Sirona Capital owned Queensgate carpark in Henderson Street, that used to be open till midnight, but is now only open from 6am to 9pm.

That is ridiculous! It should be open till midnight at least Friday-Sunday.

The irony about it is that the Kings Square Redevelopment project, of which the car park is a part, is supposed to turn Freo’s ailing economy around. Yep, but only if it is before 9pm.

I’m told it’ll be open to at least midnight by the end of this month. The early closing was just while in caretaker mode with the builder.

It is likely that management would have requested parking as part of the office lease, but not for everyone working there, Kel.

Roel this previously council owned cash cow hopefully will not have its parking bays allocated to the approx 2000 new workers Gov Housing employees and New Admin Council Staff and business owners in the new complexes. Big chance it will and if these bays are not secured for the general public the City Centre will continue to suffer because of its parking shortage no matter how nice and pretty it becomes.
