FREMANTLE RATES WELL

Posted in city of fremantle, local government, Uncategorized by freoview on July 15, 2017

City of Fremantle ratepayers can’t complain much about recent council rate rises. They are on the lower bottom of the scale, when compared to the other 23 local councils which have set the rates for the new financial year.

Fremantle has a rate increase of just 1.9% and that is excellent compared to the 4.95% rise in the City of Bayswater.

There are only six of the 23 councils which have increased rates by less than Fremantle, the lowest being the Town of Claremont with just 1%.

Our neighbour the City of Cockburn has a rate rise of 1.75%

East Fremantle will decide their rates on July 25, so stay tuned for that.

Kel is spot on – this is a one off for an election year.

Last three increases have been 7.4%, 5% and 3%. Source http://knowyourcouncil.com/Rates.aspx?council=City%20of%20Fremantle

Will go to full council Kel. It’s in the minutes of the FPOl Committee you can access on the CoF website yourselves.

    Roel,

This projection, the 10 year financial Plan is just that, a Plan. There is no GUARANTEE that there will not be a rate increase above the CPI in the next 10 years.

Words that look good but means nothing.

    A new broom is needed.

    BTW

Can you advise the results of the resolution last wednesday Council meeting of the changes to free parking for fremantle residents. There was a lot of concerns raised on your Blog and Brads Blog but for some reason the results have not been advised on either blog.

I asked Brad for a response but he has not replied.

That is incorrect Kel. The ten year financial plan for CoF states that there is no need for a rate increase above CPI.
There will be substantial raised revenue from new buildings coming on-line, both residential and commercial.

    Roel,
    Please!
Fremantle Council Elections in 3 months time. This is just a “one off” to keep the residents thinking they are on top of their game. In reality, given recent media reports it is more likely the City`s books would demand a 100% increase to ratepayers for the next 10 years to claw just back a small percentage of dollars to compensate for the loss of our $Assets this City of Fremantle has sold on over the past 8 years.
    Thanks
