FBH sunning

Those only interested in spewing negativity about Fremantle should take notice of the comments from overseas and interstate travellers who visit us.

The British Telegraph newspapers published an article stating that Perth was one of the coolest travel destinations in the world and mentions eclectic Fremantle that has undergone a huge transformation.

Food and drinks at the Coast on Port Beach and the East Freo Sweetwater rooftop bar are mentioned, and so are the Segway tours, Fremantle Markets, Maritime Museum and Arts Centre, and The Telegraph suggest to enjoy a swim at Bathers Beach.

And of course the Little Creatures brewery also got a mention.

I count my blessings daily that I live in Fremantle. We are so lucky to live here!

The Carriage Cafe is unique to Fremantle.
I have never understood why the Council wants it gone…….
And then to replace it with a boring burger bar is even weirder

I like the Carriage cafe and I don’t think we need that hub on the Esplanade and a burger bar.

    Your thoughts Roel?

We know ex Councillor Fittock`s views. He wants it GONE.

I have been trying to be a photographer for 50 years Robert and sometimes, very rarely though, I succeed.

And Roel, the iconic Carriage Cafe is up there with the rest of them.Visitors from all over the world, mums dads and kids and the older generation just love that place.

It has had 3 different owners since we sold it 2 years ago.

The brand new owners appear keen to add live music and open up at night and give it a brand new vibe I understand. This will put the cat amongst the pigeons up in Council as it is not in their Plans as they want it kept low key and have it closed down and removed by the 29th April 2019 (22months time)

We wish new owners well as the Fremantle Council has been hell bent on removing this family friendly Service Facility from the Esplanade as they claim “it is in the way of events” They are not concerned that the Community and 13,000 signatures whiny it to stay in its present location.

    The reason why ?

    1) Event Organisers can move their fence further over alongside the Youth Skate Plaza and capture another 2 thousand or so fee paying punters for the likes of Sunset Events Blues and Roots Festivals and the St Jeromes Laneways Festival.

    2) It will finally allow the “prime land grab” of areas along the Paths of the Esplanade Reserve for already established Fremantle Event Organisers to set up their lucrative businesses of renting out “our reserve” to popup Markets and Food Trucks.

Roel would you support another of our Fremantle Reserves i.e. the Esplanade Reserve being handed over to these Event Organisers as a permanent replacement for the Carriage Cafe?

I wager that the Fremantle Council Staff,Mayor Brad Pettit and the majority of Councillors have already decided against “relocating the old 105 year old Carriage on the Esplanade Reserve” as per the Dec 2015 Council Resolution and have decided to remove it off the Esplanade Reserve altogether. A plan they have denied for the past 8 years.

I suggest that it will be offered relocation to other sites somewhere around Fremantle.

It appears one cant let families or an old Railway Railway Carriage get in the way of lucrative Event Organisers coffers hey?

    Thank you
