I complained last week that the City of Fremantle and business community had missed the boat on celebrating the 30th anniversary of the America’s Cup win, but it turns out not everyone forgot the historic event,.

Tickets are now on sale for the only event in Fremantle marking the 30th anniversary of the America’s Cup Defence, the event that changed Western Australia forever. Hosted by the National Hotel and part of the Fremantle Heritage Festival, the three-course gourmet dinner is a chance to journey back in time with a night of yachting fun and local history. Being held at the prestigious WA Maritime Museum featuring interviews with local raconteurs, Perth band “Some Like it Yacht” will provide hits of 80s and a small auction will be held to raise funds for the not-for-profit Duyfken Foundation.

Speakers on the night include:

Brian Burke – 1987 WA Premier
John Longley – Australia II crew member and Bond team representative
Peter Gilmour – Kookaburra III starting helmsman and tactician. WA sportsman of the year 1987
Plus more to be announced.

Tickets available at and are limited, so get them now before they sell out.
