The Fremantle Artists Anonymous have painted a political artwork at Stevens Reserve in protest of the destruction of the Beeliar Wetlands.

Now that Colin did his Valentines with Pauline I hear the new election slogan of the Liberal Party will be IT’S ABOUT POWER, NOT POLITICS!

I’m amazed that people are wasting their energy discussing the quality of the art. The message is that Barnet is wasting 1.6 Billion dollars of public money on a road that doesn’t even reach the docks but ends in town on the wrong side of the river. It trashes local community, pumps diesel contamination in local community and trashes our beautiful environment too. He’s spending hundreds of thousands of tax payers money on police to to stop local people standing up against this and all just before an election. All this for a port he want to sell. This is nothing for the people! Its typical Main stream politics all for the big corporations NOT we the people the tax payers

FYI Roel, Claire seems to be talking about the people who did the graffiti, not Roe 8 protestors in general.

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for your lovely words. Even as an amateur artist I could do a better job than this (in the dark with my eyes closed)

What is the message of this piece? That you don’t respect the law, public property or the average taxpayer?

  5. freoview said, on February 15, 2017 at 8:19 pm

That is uninformed rubbish Claire. Go out and see the many business people, pensioners who worked all their life, mothers, fathers, hard-working people who have a passion and want to save the wetlands.

There people have contributed to society and still do, they do have jobs, are self-employed, run a business, etc.

You are very ignorant Claire Midia!!

If these folk had jobs they wouldn’t have the time or inclination to vandalise public property. Not only do they not contribute to society, their actions financially impact on the rest of us.

Have a wash and get a job guys.

Hey Lionel you Muppet. . It’s all about the message. You try painting in the dark, see how you go. xxxxxxx xxxxx.

Editor’s note: I edited the last two words out as there is no need for that kind of language on this blog

Colin’s head is the only bit of this that is any good – it does actually look like him. It is actually a caricature, not a cartoon, and if Alston drew this it would be much better due to him being a talented artist.

No criticism on the perspective and that Colin’s head is too big? ; >)
It’s a cartoon, like Alston would do in the West.

Well whilst art is subjective, there is no denying this isn’t very good. Compared to a talented graffiti artist, it doesn’t stack up. The ability of an artist to draw hands and feet is always a dead give away of skill level.

I disagree with that Lionel. The artists involved are well-respected graffiti artists who have created some stunning works.

This is low-quality graffiti. Whoever did this needs to practice more, my kid has more talent.
