Fremantle Councillor Sam Wainwright and City of Melville Councillor Tim Barling were arrested at the Roe 8 site today after chaining themselves to fences to stop bulldozers from entering the site and destroying precious wetlands.

It is a risky business for Councillors to do this kind of non-violent protest because if they get convicted it could mean they are no longer eligible to be on local council.

Good on them for standing up for what is right and for protesting against the destruction of the Beeliar Wetlands!

    But we knew that.

If you haven’t been able to get down to the protest as I wasn’t able today and want to act, you can phone the premier’s office; the environment minister’s office 6552 5800 and EPA 6145 0800 to lodge a complaint.

    Lionel agree with you completely
If you want the laws changed they can go about in the normal fashion
When individuals start deciding what laws are they choose to follow and this is accepted more and more will stretch the boundaries until anarchy follows
We just have to look at the report in the west and see Freos sad status sitting in the top 10 of the worse suburbs for crime
More who have decided not to follow the law

Great, now our councillors are flouting the law. I hope they throw the book at them.
