SEA RESCUE MOVES INTO FREO SIGNAL STATION

Posted in cantonment hill, fremantle, sailing by freoview on November 27, 2016

I wasn’t aware of and not invited to the official opening of the Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue moving into the Signal Station at Cantonment Hill yesterday, so I have pinched these photos from the Facebook page of Josh Wilson MP. Thanks Josh!

Because I wasn’t there I can’t tell or show you anything else unfortunately and that is disappointing.

Our group “Friends of Cantonment Hill” wasn’t invited either, but I suppose it is because we are the “elephant in the room” so to speak.
For the record some of our members are the people who forced the Howard Government to give the Hill back to the City, and were involved in delivering the Masterplan.
But that has been very conveniently forgotten by the City given that there is a lot of bad blood between some of the elected members and our community group.

A touching official opening carried out by the families of two FVSRG volunteers who passed away not many months ago and sadly did not see their finished product….the main operations floor was proudly named after these gentlemen

FVSRG is an outstanding volunteer organisation now rightfully occupying the Signal Station to continue to carry out its exceptional service to the community in an exceptional purpose built building used originally for the Freo Port’s signals and shipping operations from 1956 to 1965

Now for the landscaping and interpretive contracts to commence works on the Hill….works that will reflect the importance of the Indigenous and European history on the Hill

Can’t recall negative comment about the group I posted as I believe they are doing a great job.

After all of the negative comments you posted about the folk at sea rescue occupying the signal station why on earth would they want to invite you?
