Freo's View

With the Fremantle Kings Square project now going full steam ahead I wonder what will happen with the incubator MANY 6160 that has been operating in the former Myer building for a few years now.

I hear they do want to continue somewhere in the CBD and have located 2-3 possible sites to move to, but it might mean that the retailers will have to separate from the craft and design people who are upstairs.

MANY is a fantastic concept that deserves support so I hope they’ll find a new home.

The stunning mural artwork will also be lost when Sirona Capital starts the building work and it’s a real shame the work can’t be saved somehow.

That is good news Tom. It would be a shame to lose MANY.

Hi Roel, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve been in ongoing dialogue with Spacemarket for some time to plan for this transition. We caught up with them today to look at some options. We’re certainly keen to help them relocate to alternative premises in Freo – they’ve been a great addition and hugely popular with visitors.

They would indeed but Fremantle Ports is very conservative and I don’t think they would allow it there and that’s a real shame. But also I doubt footfall at VQ would be high enough during weekdays for retailers.

The disused sheds in Victoria Quay would be a fantastic location to move the incubator space and art studios.
