ART VANDALISM AT HISTORIC ARTHUR HEAD

Here another photo of mindless vandalism at Fremantle’s historic Arthur Head where one of the three swirls of this artwork at the Bathers Beach Art Precinct was badly scratched. The long weekend saw public furniture being thrown down the cliff and damaged, graffitti on walls, pieces of wood and trees set alight, and so it goes on.

This morning parents visiting the Roundhouse asked if we could call security because three loud drunks sitting near the gun deck scared their children. Two City of Fremantle security officers and two police officers attended but two of the drunks had already left and the last one was moved on.

The City of Fremantle can only blame itself for this as it more or less send out an invitation to come and inhabit Arthur Head when they created a ghost town at night when they initiated the arts precinct and evicted long-term residents from the West End hill. We now have to put up with daily anti-social behaviour around the Roundhouse and down below near the J Shed A Class Reserve, and it will get worse if we invite hordes of people to come to live music concerts in an area totally inappropriate for such events.

I agree Roel. The Mayor, Cr Sullivan and others are supporting Sunset Events in their attempts to make alcohol the main reason for visiting Arthur Head and electors in the upcoming Council Elections need to ensure they only vote for Candidates like yourself who are committed to stopping this travesty from happening.
