CLEAN UP THE MESS FREMANTLE!

Posted in city of fremantle, fremantle by freoview on August 5, 2014

bin 1 bin 2

The Arthur Head rubbish bin saga continues and that is not acceptable! I will keep pointing this out until this has been addresses and rectified, even if that means someone gets sacked or has to resign over this. Someone at COF is responsible for this, so why is (s)he not doing the job?

I started complaining about rubbish not being collected at Arthur Head nearly four years ago, after I moved into Captain’s Lane, and very little has improved since, and I keep getting calls from local residents and artists working in the area.

For heaven’s sake, City of Fremantle, this is our prime heritage and tourism area, so surely daily tidying up is not too much to ask for.

I realise I won’t win a popularity contest at the City, but community engagement is not about winning X Factor, but about caring for the city one lives in.

Clean up your mess, Fremantle!

Photos taken this morning. Bins were already full on Sunday, as is the recycle bin in front of Kidogo!

That’s absolutely pathetic , surely the city has a basic duty of care?

Well, Fremantle will just have to get its act together as far as cleaning and maintenance is concerned. It is not acceptable to have overflowing rubbish bins and badly managed parks and lawns. Time to step up and get much better at it, Freo!

I have heard the same thing from Melville residents. Point Walter is managed incredibly well and if that standard is lost there will be a big problem.

Broken beer bottles have been on the steps to the Round House for weeks as there is not even weekly cleaning there.

I was at chatting to some residents last week coming to freo with possible amalgamation, their first point was fear of places like point walter ending up like the esplanade in freo, mismanagement, there is a real concern of residents there.
Seems unfair that the melville city loses its only golf course too?

Roel I was at the round house on the weekend broken beer bottles down the steps as well?

I sometimes wonder if there are any performance criteria at COF.

    Hi Roel

Ditto my post on this issue last week.

When does it become an internal performance management issue!

    Kind regards
    Andrew

It is going to be interesting when Freo is in charge of Point Walter reserve, a much busier public space and one that is looked after far better. Methinks there will be a few new outraged residents who are used to a slightly higher level of competence from their local government.

Yes something needs to be done, Brad, and the CEO and Director need to start kicking butt, because it is not good enough.

Roel, I share your frustration. Not sure what the complication is here but I will follow up with the staff responsible. Thanks, Brad

Like you, Roel, I’ve asked this before: Who’s in charge?
