FREMANTLE WAKING UP TO THE NEW YEAR
The start of the new year in Fremantle appears to have been quite pleasant with far less rubbish on the streets at 5.30 this morning, compared to last year, and no signs of damage to shop windows, etc.
The City of Fremantle cleaners were out in force and so were some of the Lycra brigade, trying in vain to find an open cafe before 7 am. There was an abundance of taxis driving around but there was no one on the streets to give them business. An early jogger ran down the cappuccino strip accompanied by a guy on a bike, while four people returned to their backpackers after a night on Bathers Beach.
