LIFELINE FOR FREMANTLE WORKERS CLUB

Posted in fremantle by freoview on November 15, 2011

The FREMANTLE WORKERS CLUB, which closed a few months ago because of financial difficulties, has been thrown a lifeline by the Swan Yacht Club. The SYC agreed in principle to bail out the workers club and pay the $ 200,000.00 debt they have got. This is conditional on the workers club regaining a liquor license which they let expire when they closed. Over 100 FWC members attended the Sunday meeting and approved of the merger with the SYC.

There are big plans for the FWC with regular music and other events at the club, similar to the Hidden Treasures and Club Sandwich shows the Buffalo and Navy clubs held.

This is an opportunity for inner city residents to support the FWC, to become members and go to upcoming events. Workers clubs are an important part of Fremantle’s history and heritage.
