CLANCYS FISHPUB’S 21ST
Clancys Fishpub in Fremantle is an institution. This month they celebrate their 21st birthday and good on them. It is a real family pub and probably one of the few in Western Australia that does not employ bouncers. There is no need for them as it is all self-regulation. There is a good atmosphere, hardly ever any bad obnoxious drunks, simply a great and safe place to have a drink and a meal.
The Sunday early evening sessions with the Zydecats and Lucky Oceans are a hit with young and old. It is fun to watch the little kids with big eyes overawed by instruments and sound watching and listening, and the very brave having a dance. Once it is bedtime for them the slightly older and the much older take over the dance floor till the end of the evening. This is perfect, feel-good relaxation.
Clancys is in the old Princess May complex and there is a large grass area surrounded by thick walls where parents can safely leave their kids to play football or cricket.
Being a Clancy customer makes you one of the big family. The friendly staff know most regulars, they work bloody hard and are very efficient at carrying food platters through the crowd. They seem to like working there because many of them have been there for years.
The coming weekend celebrations in Princess May Park should be huge fun and I for one will have my birthday there on the afternoon of 25th. Come and join me!
